At Asia Transpacific Journeys, going beyond the ordinary to create travel experiences that incorporate these elements is our guiding principle. We call it Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Since 1987, we have set the standard for extraordinary custom and group travel in Asia and the Pacific. During this time, it has been our attention to detail and commitment to your individual experience that has set us apart. We deliver the best service, nurture our relationships abroad and help sustain local initiatives, all to ensure that your travels connect you with the people and places in our region.

Marilyn Staff is the founder and driving force behind Asia Transpacific Journeys. She earned degrees in environmental biology and sociology before setting off on worldwide travels, and a stint living in Thailand where her company was born over two decades ago. She is the veteran of far-flung adventures that span three decades and the most remote corners of the region, fueled by an abiding love of trekking and traditional tribal cultures. An accomplished photographer and engaging speaker, she’s a frequent expert lecturer at museums, universities and conferences.

Adopting her Thai son gave Marilyn firsthand insight into the plight of orphans in the region, and was the impetus for the establishment of Asia Transpacific Foundation, the charitable arm of the company. This non-profit organization seeks to educate and ease the conditions of orphaned children throughout the region, and has evolved into a health initiative that produces clean water for schools and impoverished villages.

Asia Transpacific Foundation
At Asia Transpacific Journeys we have a deep connection with the people of Asia. We established the Asia Transpacific Foundation in 1998 to deepen this connection, and return the kindness and generosity that has so touched our lives. Our employees and travelers welcome the opportunity to give back directly to the communities they have come to know.

Asia Transpacific Foundation is the charitable arm of Asia Transpacific Journeys. The foundation provides direct financial support to fund the Clean Water Initiative. This project builds and operates locally staffed production facilities that fire clay filters, which in turn provide potable water to undeveloped rural areas in Asia.

Through financial support provided by Asia Transpacific Journeys, the volunteer labor of our staff, and the generous service donations of professionals such as designers and printers, the Asia Transpacific Foundation can manage community projects with virtually no significant overhead. This low overhead ensures that nearly 100% of donations go directly the Clean Water Initiative. Asia Transpacific Foundation is a volunteer driven, IRS registered 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation.
