The Dordogne is a region of Southwest France located between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees and named for the river that runs through it. Locally, it is known as the Périgord. The region benefits from a temperate climate that makes it pleasant in all seasons. The Dordogne is the birthplace of prehistory and gastronomy, with many castles and gardens that are open to the public (such as the castles of Beynac and Castelnaud, and the Jardins de l'Imaginaire in Terasson). It is a region of exceptional natural beauty. The capital, Sarlat, is a city of art and history, with an exceptional architectural heritage.

Villa Marine is a charming house, situated in an idyllic, peaceful setting, with a panoramic view of the wooded hillsides and the Castle of Chabans in the distance. Many activities are possible in the area — canoeing, horseback riding, trekking, tennis, and spa. The village of Plazac is just one kilometer downhill from the house; here you will find a grocery store, bakery, post office, bar/café, organic coop, and spa. Further services are available in Montignac (15 min), with a supermarket, cinema, banks, shops, restaurants, and a market on Wednesday mornings. Rouffignac (10 min) has a traditional market on Sunday mornings, just perfect for the morning after you arrive!
