Itinerary
DAY 1 – MASHATU GAME RESERVE, BOTSWANA: Arrive Johannesburg and fly to Polokwane Airport in Botswana. Upon landing, you will be transferred by road to Mashatu Game Reserve, located in the remote eastern corner of Botswana offering some of the most exciting game viewing in Africa. It is a place of exceptional beauty where one can explore the rugged, unspoiled African landscapes in the comfort of open 4WD vehicles. Overnight at Mashatu Main Camp. (L, D)
Mashatu Main Camp offers 14 tastefully and authentically decorated suites with en-suite bathroom. French doors open onto the African bush where guests can relax and savor the sights and smells of the bush. There is a magnificent viewing deck directly off the bar, overlooking the waterhole.
DAYS 2–3 – MASHATU GAME RESERVE, BOTSWANA: Enjoy two more days exploring the “Land of Giants.” Your stay includes two special activities at Mashatu. Choose from a predator or ivory drive, walking safari, mountain biking safari, or archeological and cultural tour to the Mmamakwa Ruins. Two activities can be included at an additional cost, including horseback safaris for experienced riders. All are guided by expert rangers and experienced trackers. DAYS 4-5 – DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS/BLYDE RIVER CANYON: Enjoy breakfast, and then drive to the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains, where you will enjoy two days of great scenery and hiking. Breakfast and overnights at The Coach House. (B)
The Coach House, situated in the scenic Limpopo Province, sits atop a plateau with sweeping views across forest and farmland to the peaks of the Wolkberg, overlooking the Drakensberg Mountain Range. With 39 rooms, the Coach House offers the very best in country fare. The hotel offers a complete spa.
DAYS 6-8 – MALAMALA: After breakfast, you will drive to the famous Blyde River Canyon for a scenic Panorama Tour and picnic lunch. Continue on to MalaMala Game Reserve in time for an afternoon game drive. MalaMala is the largest private game reserve in Africa, situated on the border with famous Kruger National Park. Here, you will have the chance to see the Big 5, along with hundreds of other species of mammals and birds. Game drives take place in open 4WD vehicles led by excellent local guides. In the evenings, enjoy delicious dinners in MalaMala’s traditional open-air boma. Meals and overnights at MalaMala Main Camp. (B, L, D)
MalaMala Main Camp, overlooking the Sand River, offers accommodation in 18 luxury rooms, each including "his" and "hers" bathrooms and a private deck with views of the surrounding bush.
DAY 9 – JOHANNESBURG/FLIGHTS: Enjoy breakfast and a final morning activity. After lunch,
bid farewell to the bush and transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon landing, you will have some time to do some final shopping or relaxing before boarding your flight for home or on to your next destination. (B, L)
