Itinerary

Day 1: Tokyo
On arrival at Tokyo Narita Airport you will be met by our representative, who will escort you to the Skyliner Train that will transfer you to Ueno Station. From here take a taxi to your hotel in the Asakusa district.

Day 2: Tokyo
For your first day in Japan we include a private guided tour by public transport to get you used to the Japanese transport system. On this tour visit the Asakusa Kannon Temple, Ginza and the Imperial Palace Eastern Gardens. Later in the day continue to the Meiji Shinto Shrine with its peaceful garden. (B)

Day 3: Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo
Travel by train to the World Heritage site of Nikko, founded in 782. On your private guided tour see the Toshogu Shrine decorated in a myriad of colours and gold leaf. This afternoon discover Rinoji Temple and visit Lake Chuzenji and enjoy a walk by the Kegon Waterfall. (B,L)

Day 4: Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Hakone
Make your own way by subway through the city to Tokyo central station for the Shinkansen or bullet train to Odawara Station and take a public bus to your hotel. Odawara is located in the beautiful mountain area of Hakone National Park, on the foot hills of Mount Fuji. Overnight in a traditional Ryokan for two nights. (B,D)

Day 5: Hakone
Today why not venture out on foot, hiking through the park's many trails and then take the bus up to Mt Fuji 5th Station for amazing views of Mount Fuji, at 3,776m Japan's highest mountain. Later in the day we suggest you take a cruise around the beautiful Lake Ashi, where on clear days you can see the inverted reflection of Mt Fuji over the water. (B,D)

Day 6: Hakone - Kyoto
Take the hotel bus to Odawara station and board the Shinkansen train to Kyoto. In the afternoon start your independent sightseeing. Kyoto is easy to get around by bus or taxi and on your first day we suggest you visit the Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle, residence of the Tokugawa shogun. (B)

Day 7: Kyoto
This morning we include a private guided tour by public transport. Sights include the Kinkakuji Temples (Golden Temple), Ryoanhji Temple and Nijo Castle. This afternoon is at leisure for your own sightseeing. (B)

Day 8: Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto
With your included rail pass you may venture out of Kyoto and visit the local area. You could take the short train ride to Nara and see it's Todaiji Temple, or to the historic town of Himej. (B)

Day 9: Kyoto - Tokyo
Take a taxi to Kyoto Station and board the Shinkansen bullet train to Tokyo. You will stay in the centrally located and lively of district Shinjuku, famous for its wide selection of shops and restaurants. (B)

Day 10: Tokyo
There's time for an early visit to the famous Tsukiji fish market, before taking the shared airport limousine bus to Narita Airport where your tour will end. (B)
