Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in London
Arrive at either Heathrow or Gatwick Airport in London and transfer to the Montcalm Hotel for a 2-night stay. Tour the sights of London; Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, lovely St. James Park and Westminster Bridge. See the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
Day 2: London
Today you may want to take a boat trip from Charing Cross Pier to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. See the famous Beefeaters distillery and view the Crown Jewels. Continue to St. Paul's Cathedral, modeled on St. Peter's in Rome.
Day 3: Cotwolds
Pick up your rental car (or meet your driver guide) and drive to the Cotswolds. The village greens, cottage gardens, antique shops, churches and quaint country pubs are truly characteristic of the Gloucestershire area. Enjoy at 2-night stay at the Cotswolds House.
Day 4: Stratford on Avon
Today, drive to Stratford-on-Avon, Shakespeare's birth-place, visiting en route lovely Hidcote Manor gardens, near Mickleton. In Stratford, take the local tour, and see Shakespeare's birthplace, Anne Hathaway's cottage, Mary Arden's House, Holy Trinity Church and of course, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Plenty of options for traditional afternoon tea & scones!
Day 5: Cotwolds & Bath
This morning, visit Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, the Slaughters, the Roman villa at Yanworth, Bibury and Cirencester. Castle Combe & Lacock vie for the title of the prettiest village in England. Stay 2-nights at the luxurious Bath Priory Hotel
Day 6: Bath
Enjoy the day in Bath, a renowned spa town with a mix of both Roman and Georgian architecture. Visit the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and stroll through Priory Park.
Day 7: Stonehenge & Windsor
Today Visit Stonehenge, dating back to between 3000 and 1000 B.C. Pre-history addicts will want to visit Avebury, in some ways more spectacular than Stonehenge! Drive to Windsor and Eton, perhaps visiting Winchester and Romsey Abbey en route. Visit Windsor Castle, St. George's Chapel and nearby Eton College. Enjoy a night at the Christopher Wren Hotel, Windsor.
Day 8: Depart England
After breakfast, drive to your depature airport in London. Transfer to either Heathrow or Gatwick Airport, return your rental car, and board your flight home.
