We had a great time, we were able to get into places that were closed and the guides seemed to know everyone, everywhere we went. Very knowledgeable about the area, wine, and architecture. Great biking, small roads - no traffic.
Itinerary
Day One: Palma Coastal Route
Your guides will meet you at your hotel in Palma, the capital of Spain’s Balearic Islands, and shuttle you to the starting point of the tour, right by the Cathedral de Palma. You’ll have an introduction to the islands treats with a selection of tapas and some Spanish sparkling wine. Once you have finished enjoying the freshest seafood in town, you will be professionally fitted to your top quality bick before you depart for a leisurely ride out of town. This coastal bike route will showcase quintessential Mediterranean landscapes under deep blue skies and colorful scenery. Enjoy the ambiance of this ride through all of the hip and trendy beachside neighborhoods where many of the most popular night clubs of Mallorca are located. Once you have left the busy beach crowds you’ll finally arrive at your hotel for the night, the impressive 19th century fortress called Cap Rocat. The evening brings a lovely gastronomic meal to get you ready for Mallorquin living.

Day Two: Monastery of Bonany
Today we’ll cycle along quiet country roads, through small rustic villages, and past endless almond orchards. Our destination is the Bonany Monastery, one of Mallorca’s best-kept secrets. You’ll have rolling terrain along the way, ending with one final climb that takes us up to the sanctuary. From above, you’ll enjoy a gourmet picnic with amazing views of Mallorca’s lush interior, a fertile mix of vast plains and soaring peaks. After lunch and a ‘siesta’ in the hilltop serenity, you will descend into the town of Petra, the home town of Junipero de Selve, founder of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Here you’ll find a quaint museum dedicated to this well-traveled and devout monk. You will then have the option of cycling some more or hopping on a van transfer back to the hotel. You are on your own for dinner this evening and our guides will be happy to make a suggestion on some great spots for dinner in Palma.

Day Three: Through the Vineyards to Santa Maria
Today is smooth sailing on some of the more scenic rides through the viticultural region of Mallorca, passing the vineyards where the local varieties of Manto Negro, Moll, Callet, Fogoneu, Ull de llebre, Monastrell, Parellada are grown. Cycle through the town of Binissalem with one of the most beautiful squares in the Mallorcan countryside - both for the harmony and width of its design in relation to the surrounding buildings. You will learn a lot about the island’s wine making practices during tastings of the white, rosé and reds from the island’s only AOCs: Pla i Llevant and Binissalem. Continue on past Santa Maria and on to your hotel for the next 2 nights, The Reads Hotel and SPA. Take some time to enjoy the different treatments that the SPA has to offer or have a drink on one of the many terraces. Tonight you’ll have dinner outside the hotel at a typical Mallorcan restaurant boasting the most authentic of dishes.

After a breakfast of fresh fruits and pastries, you will start the morning with a warm up ride to Alaro. This small town is dedicated to music and art and was frequented by Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, and Peter Ustinov. If you choose to continue riding along Cap de Formentor you day of magnificent vistas is just beginning. Here, dramatic and rocky cliffs drop off from both sides of the road and offer sweeping views of the sea. If lying on the beach sounds more tempting to you than we will shuttle you directly there while you wait for the rest of the group to arrive. We’ll enjoy a lovely lunch overlooking the Mediterranean and then take an hour to relax on the tranquil beach that lies in front of the restaurant. After the day’s adventure, we’ll drive you back to the hotel to relax and freshen up. Dinner tonight is at the Reads Restaurant featuring traditional specialties.

Along the route you will enjoy breathtaking vistas along the western edge of the island. Our downhill stretches will make each climb worthwhile as you enjoy the Mediterranean breeze on your face and coast into picturesque Mallorcan villages. In Valdemossa, visit the historic monastery and wander the steep, narrow streets. From this busy little town you will enjoy a long descent into Deia and our last luxury hotel, the magnificent La Residencia. This inviting village is nestled in a cozy valley and after the ride you’ll have time to visit the small sandy beach and sunbathe. If you would prefer not to partake in the epic ride through the mountains, you are welcome to spend your day enjoying the spa at your leisure, a relaxing walk, or hours of Mediterranean wave therapy in the waters below the town’s streets.
