Day 1
Arrive Bergen
Upon arrival in Bergen, you will be welcomed by your Cox & Kings representative and transferred to your hotel. Established around 1070 by King Olav Kyrre, Bergen has been enchanting travellers for nearly a millennium. Clarion Collection Havenkontoret (Harbour View Room) – 2-nights
Day 2
Bergen
Embark on an excursion through some of the most magnificent scenery in western Norway. First, travel on the Flåm Railway, the steepest railway line in Northern Europe. Marvel at waterfalls, mountainsides and lush river valleys as you descend toward the Aurland Fjord. Then take a cruise through the narrowest fjord in Norway, the Nærøyfjord. On your way back to Bergen, travel by bus through the breath-taking scenery of winding mountain roads. (B)
Day 3
Board Your Hurtigruten Ship
Savor a day at leisure in Bergen. Perhaps take a ride on the Fløibanen funicular, to the top of Mount Fløien. From the summit, marvel at the view of Bergen and the surrounding fjords. In the early evening, take a private transfer to the Hurtigruten port, where you board your ship and begin your cruise. Hurtigruten [ships will vary] (Mini-Suite) – 6-nights (B)
Day 4
Alesund / Geraingerfjord / Molde / Kristiansund
Wake up to the beauty of Norway as your ship heads for Torvik. Stop in the beautiful Art Nouveau town of Alesund. Between April 15 and September 14, all ships call at Geiranger in the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to see the beautiful Brudesloret, Friaren, and the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. After a stop at Molde, pass through the Hustadvika, before docking at Kristiansund. (B, L, D)
Day 5
Trondheim
Arrive early this morning in ancient Trondheim, where you can walk its charming streets, sit by the harbor or cross the old city bridge to see the restored buildings in Bakklandet. Don’t miss the great gothic cathedral of Nidaros, where the kings of old Norway once received their official blessing. Board your ship again for Rorvik. (B, L, D)
Day 6
Lofotr
Cross the Arctic Circle as you sail past the island of Vikingen. Cruise by islands filled with rock formations, cabins on stilts and wooden racks for drying cod. This evening, dock in Stamsund and travel back in time to the Lofotr Viking Museum. After learning about the Vikings, the chieftain and the lady of the house welcome you to join them for a Viking feast, with traditional food, costumes, singing and dancing in authentic surroundings. After the meal, return to your ship. (B, L, D)
Day 7
Harstad / Tromso
This morning, sail past the Trondenes Church before calling at Harstad. Afterward, cruise near the great island of Senja. Stop at Tromso, where 19th-century Russian, British, Dutch, and German ships stopped before hunting expeditions. (B, L, D)
Day 8
The North Cape
As you sail past the northern Finnmark County, watch for puffins and gannets along the cliffs and pods of orca hunting for herring. After calling at Honningsvag, head toward the fishing villages of Kjollefjord, Mehamn, and Berlevag. (B, L, D)
Day 9
Disembark in Kirkenes / To Oslo
Bid farewell to your ship in Kirkenes, and fly to Oslo. Upon arrival, a Cox & Kings representative will escort you to your hotel. Hotel Continental (Standard Room) – 2-nights (B)
Day 10
Oslo
After breakfast, embark on a tour of the city. Then discover more about the country’s past at the Viking Ship Museum, which boasts three ninth-century Viking vessels. The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure to explore the city. (B)
Day 11
Depart Oslo
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your international flight. (B)
