Itinerary
DAY 1 ARRIVE DELHI
On arrival stay at The Oberoi Hotel.
DAY 2 DELHI
Morning at leisure to enjoy your holiday. Afternoon meet fellow travelers and explore New Delhi, followed by a festive welcome Indian dinner.
DAY 3 DELHI
Morning witness Changing of the Guards ceremony. Afternoon rickshaw ride to see the sights of Old Delhi and then time for shopping or spa.
DAY 4 DELHI – AGRA
Morning travel by road to Agra, arriving the Oberoi Amarvilas Hotel for a 2 nights stay. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy time in the pool or perhaps a spa at the hotel. Sunset visit to the enchanting Taj Mahal monument.
DAY 5 AGRA
Return to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, then explore the halls and palaces of Agra Fort. Spend the afternoon at India’s first Bear Rescue Sanctuary.
DAY 6 AGRA – FATEHPUR SIKRI – JAIPUR
Morning travel by road to Jaipur via one of India’s most glorious sites; the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Arrive Jaipur for a 3 nights stay at Oberoi Rajvilas Hotel.
DAY 7 JAIPUR
Begin the day ascending to the hilltop Amber Fort on elephant back. Return to the hotel for lunch and afternoon at leisure. Evening village festival to enjoy various Indian cultural activities; camel ride through villages, henna painting, turban and sari tying, sitar lessons, followed by a celebratory dinner.
DAY 8 JAIPUR
Morning explore Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. See the City Palace and the Observatory.
DAY 9 JAIPUR – DELHI
Return to Delhi. Overnight at The Trident, Gurgaon, and evening at leisure.
DAY 10 DELHI – CHANDIGARH – SHIMLA
A mid-day flight arrives Chandigarh, and then onward to Shimla, the summer capital of the British Raj. Spend 3 nights at the Oberoi Cecil Hotel.
DAY 11 SHIMLA
Visit ‘The Peak’ for a picnic lunch. The Peak is a quaint colonial bungalow on a hilltop that commands magnificent views of the surrounding countryside of Indian hills. After lunch, return to Shimla, touring this fairy-tale like town. A gentle climb up to Jakhoo hill offers panoramic views of Shimla.
DAY 12 SHIMLA – KANDAGHAT – SHIMLA
Board the Himalayan Queen Express Toy Train for a two-hour journey through the spectacular beauty of the Indian Himalayas. Rest of day at leisure to enjoy the pool, games and spa of the hotel. This evening toast ‘farewell’ with fellow travellers over a festive Farewell Dinner.
DAY 13 SHIMLA – CHANDIGARH – DELHI
Travel to Chandigarh by road, then fly to Delhi for an afternoon at leisure in the Trident, Gurgaon.
DAY 14 DEPART DELHI
Travellers returning home transfer early morning to the airport. Those continuing their adventure fly to Udaipur.
