One of the best ways to explore landscapes, everyday life and people is – trekking. We have prepared several trek tours in order to meet the essence of Bali. You’ll have the pleasure to trek through the rice fields, plantations growing coffee, vanilla, avocado and see how they are grown and harvested. You’ll taste Balinese food, the famous ‘snakeskin’, observe and participate in everyday village activities, meet Balinese people and gain a first hand experience of their culture. This tour will take you to some of the most important religious monuments, such as, Besakih – known as the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali, Vihara Dharma Giri – a rare Buddhist temple, Tanah Lot temple, Ulun Danu temple, Tirta Empul and its sacred water spring and the fascinating Gunung Kawi temple.You’ll also have the chance to enjoy the picturesque Balinese landscapes. You’ll enjoy spectacular views over Lake Batur and its volcano, Mt. Batur, visit the lakes – Buyan, Tamblingan, Bratan. Finally, you’ll discover the charms of fabulous Ubud as you visit museums, palaces, local markets and enjoy a Balinese massage treatment at a local spa.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Denpasar - Candidasa (-)

Arrive this afternoon at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar where a local travel guide will greet you. Take a private transfer to Candidasa in Karangasem, Bali’s eastern province. Check in at your hotel in Candidasa where the remainder of today is at leisure. Overnight in Candidasa.

Denpasar Airport – Candidasa (67 km): 2 hours 20 minutes

Day 2: Candidasa - Tirta Gangga - Village Trekking - Candidasa (B/L/-)

After breakfast, explore the less visited province of Karangasem. Start with a visit to Tirta Gangga, a sacred water palace. Stop for lunch at the famed Bali Asli restaurant for authentic Balinese food. Proceed to Tenganan. En route, visit the village of Sibetan to observe traditional weaving and visit a salak plantation where you can taste Bali’s famed ‘snakeskin’ fruit. Then, set off on a 2 hour trek through the rice fields down to Tenganan, one of several ancient villages in Bali. At the end of the trek, explore Tenganan and admire its unique architecture. Return to your hotel in Candidasa where the remainder of today is at leisure. Overnight in Candidasa.

Day 3: Candidasa - Besakih - Kintamani - Beji Temple - Lovina Beach (B/L/-)

Breakfast is served in the hotel and after check out the driver and tour guide will be waiting for you. First, go to Besakih, known as the ‘Mother Temple’ of Bali – the largest and most important temple on the island. We continue the drive inland and upon arrival at Kintamani, stop for lunch at a local restaurant where you will enjoy spectacular views over Lake Batur and its volcano, Mt Batur.  After lunch, drive over the mountains and make a stop at the Beji temple. Next, continue to Lovina and check in to your next hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight in Lovina.

Besakih – Kintamani (22 km): 50 min
Kintamani – Lovina (58 km): 2 hours

Day 4: Lovina - Seririt - Munduk (B/-/D)

Spend morning at leisure on the beach in Lovina. This afternoon, drive to Vihara Dharma Giri, a rare Buddhist temple in Bali. Afterwards, go to the hot springs where you can take a bath in these sacred waters (changing facilities are basic). Arrive in Munduk towards the end of today, check in to your hotel and after freshening up, enjoy dinner at hotel. Overnight in Munduk.

Vihara Darma Giri – Munduk (10 km): 25 minutes

Day 5: Munduk - Beugul - Belimbing - Umabian (B/L/D)

Munduk is the ideal location for outdoor activities and this morning you’ll have the chance to explore with a light trek. This 2-hour trek begins this morning from your hotel. The trek takes you through many plantations growing coffee, cloves, vanilla, avocado and more- you’ll see how they are grown and harvested. Return to the hotel in order to refresh. Next, drive to a nearby local restaurant for lunch. This afternoon, drive over a small mountain road overlooking two superb lakes: Buyan and Tamblingan. Continue to Lake Bratan and stop for a visit to the very scenic Ulun Danu Temple. The temple is set in the middle of the lake’s calm waters on a small bit of land giving the impression that it is ‘floating’. From here, go to the nearby traditional local market of Bedugul.  Next, return to the south in order to visit the UNESCO heritage listed rice fields of Jatiluwih. Take a 1-hour walk through the terracing rice fields learning about the subak style of rice production in Bali. Continue to Umabian and check in to your hotel.  Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Umabian.

Day 6: Umabian - Taman Sari Buwana - Taman Ayun - Tanah Lot - Ubud (B/L/D)

After breakfast, start the day with an amazing sustainable tourism excursion at Taman Sari Buwana farm. During this half-day excursion you will experience local Balinese life while supporting a community-based tourism project in the village of Tunjuk. You’ll then walk with the local farmers to their rice fields, locally referred to as sawah. Learn how to plant, transplant or harvest rice (depending of the season). After farming, visit coconut plantations.  Next, return to the home base where you will observe the boiling of cassava in the traditional kitchen before enjoying a delicious lunch at the farm. This afternoon, transfer to Ubud stopping en route at the serene Taman Ayun temple near Mengwi. We also make a stop at the famous Tanah Lot temple. Continue to Ubud and check in to your hotel and have time for refreshing. No visit to Bali would be complete without witnessing traditional dance and this evening, in Ubud, you will be treated to a performance in a nearby village. Return to Ubud for dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Ubud.

Day 7: Ubud - Gunung Kawi - Tirta Empul - Tegalalang - Spa - Ubud (B/L/-)

This morning after breakfast, your driver and tour guide will take you to new exciting adventures. First, visit Tampaksiring village and explore Tirta Empul, a temple famous for its sacred spring water. Continue to the nearby village and admire the unique temple of Gunung Kawi. Later, drive a bit further south towards Ubud and have lunch overlooking the beautiful rice terraces of Tegalalang. From here, drive to Ubud centre and enjoy a one-hour Balinese massage treatment at a local spa. Return to your hotel and remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Ubud.

Pura Gunung Kawi – Tegalalang (8 km): 15 minutes

Day 8: Ubud - Ubud Centre - Beach in South Bali/Departure (B/L/-)

This morning, discover the charms of Ubud. Visit museums, palaces and local markets. Lunch will be served at Indus Restaurant, one of Ubud’s top tables, with breathtaking views over the Tjampuhan river valley. At the end of the day, transfer to your South Bali beach hotel (not included) or to the airport in Denpasar for your onward flight.
