Itinerary

Day 1- Arrival in Kigali & Kandt House Museum

On arrival at Kigali international airport, you are received by our drive guide who takes you to the booked hotel of your choice to check-in. He also briefs you on the tour highlights. Based on your arrival time you will do some Kigali city tour and visit Kandt House Museum. Richard Kandt was the first colonial governor of Rwanda, on behalf of Germany, until the early 1900s.

Day 2- Kigali Genocide Memorial & Transfer to the Rwandan Cultural Heritage Corridor

Wake up, enjoy the breakfast at your hotel, checkout the hotel room and depart for Kigali Genocide Memorial, which, through education and peace-building, honours the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994. The three permanent exhibitions and burial gardens form part of a meaningful tribute to those who perished, and provide a powerful educational tool for visitors. During lunch time you will have the best chances of tasting local cuisines within Kigali city the capital city of Rwanda. After lunch, depart Kigali for Rwanda Cultural Heritage corridor in the southern part of the country.

Day 3- Kings’ Palace & Ethnographic Museum tours to Nyungwe National Park

Wake up at sunrise, have your breakfast, checkout the hotel room and proceed for a visit to the Ethnographic Museum and King’s Palace in Nyanza. A reconstruction of the traditional royal residence, the King’s Palace is a beautifully-crafted thatched dwelling shaped like a beehive. In olden times, Nyanza was the heart of Rwanda. According to oral tradition, it was the site of battles and power struggles. For a long time, the monarchy was mobile, moving the court between various locations. When it eventually settled in one place, Nyanza was the obvious choice. The capital of the kingdom had as many as 2,000 inhabitants, and huts built with the same methods as seen here. At the back live a few long-horned Inyambo cattle, descended from the king’s herd, whose keepers carefully tend and sing to them, keeping alive a unique tradition.

Day 4 –Nyungwe National Park chimpanzee trekking and Birding

Wake up early; enjoy your breakfast at your hotel & go for chimpanzee tracking in the Nyungwe Forest. After a short briefing by our professional guide, walk through stunning tea plantations before entering the thick luscious forest. There are over 13 species of monkey found in the forest and excellent birding opportunities with over 100 species of butterflies and the occasional chameleon

Wake up at sunrise and drive the short journey to the park headquarters for your Golden Monkey trekking. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most likely areas in Tanzania to see the endangered Black Rhino, as a small population is thriving in this idyllic and protected environment.
