Itinerary

DAY 1 :  ARRIVE IN CAPE TOWN
You are met on arrival in Cape Town by our private guide and transferred for overnight at Gingko Guesthouse. Situated on the slopes of Table Mountain this cozy accommodation offers stunning views of the city, harbor and mountain. Relax at the guesthouse before an afternoon introduction to the city including the Malay Quarter, Houses of Parliament and a walk through the old town square bustling with the market traders. Free evening to explore the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront; these original Cape Town wharfs have been renovated as an upbeat gathering place full of restaurants, bars and cafe's on the water. Overnight Gingko Guesthouse. [Meals on own]

DAY 2 :  TWO OCEANS COASTLINE AND KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS
This full day of exploration showcases the amazing coastline of the Cape Peninsula and the unique floral kingdom of the Cape. Drive down the stunning Atlantic coastline stopping to photograph and walk along the white sands of Noordhoek Beach and among hamlets on the Atlantic Coast. A walk to the old lighthouse in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve yields spectacular views of False Bay and possible sightings of Southern Right Whales that congregate to mate and calve (July - November). Walk down to Boulders Beach to visit the African Penguins and stop at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a magnificent display of native Cape flora. This unique Fynbos flora kingdom is of particular botanical interest because of the great number of species, more than in the whole of North America. Overnight Gingko Guesthouse. [BL]

DAY 3 :  TABLE MOUNTAIN AND STELLENBOSCH WINE LANDS
Start the day with a journey on the Rotair cable car that takes under 5 minutes to reach the summit of Table Mountain, 3400 feet above sea level. Once at the top, views of the city and surrounds are spectacular. There is plenty of time to walk around, explore the various nature trails or just enjoy the view. Leaving the city behind, you have the rest of the day to explore South Africa's oldest wine route and visit some of the award wining estates that the region is famed for. Apart from the wine, Stellenbosch is a showcase of Cape Dutch architecture. Enjoy wine tasting, cellar tours and a picnic lunch on the immaculate laws of one of our favorite estates. Overnight Gingko Guesthouse. [BL]

DAY 4 :  ROBBEN ISLAND AND TOWNSHIP TOUR
You will visit the township of Guguletu as invited guests, hosted by the local community that initiated this project to share their personal history, lively music, and their hopes and aspirations on this personal tour. Going across the bay, visit Robben Island to learn about the history of the island and political prison where Nelson Mandela was held captive for two decades before his historic release in 1991. Return to Cape Town by ferry in time for a leisurely hike up Lions Head to watch the sunset over this beautiful city. Overnight Gingko Guesthouse. [BL]

DAYS 5-7 :  KRUGER AND THE SABI SAND GAME RESERVE
This morning you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for flight to Hoedspruit Airport (this flight is not included in trip cost). You will be met upon arrival and transferred by road into the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which forms part of the 2.2 million hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Enjoy three days exploring this world-renowned area and its abundance of wildlife. Arathusa Lodge offers comfortable, stylish accommodations in a warm and friendly atmosphere. You will have the opportunity to view a large variety of wildlife, including shy the Big Five. Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share with you their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush. The typical day starts with an early morning game drive, then after breakfast a bush walk gives you the opportunity to learn about the smaller wonders of the bush such as dung beetles. A late afternoon game drive concludes at a carefully selected natural site to enjoy a sundowner whilst watching the sunset over the awe-inspiring wilderness. Overnights at Arathusa.
