  • Reviewer: Bill M. located in San Jose, CA
“As with a first taste of any fine wine, your Assaggio Toscana has whetted my appetite for much more of your beautiful country. I'll cherish the memories of our dinners at the Fattoria, our climbs up those beautiful hills and most of all the small personal details along the way." Never has the word 'Classico' been more appropriate!”

Itinerary

Day 1—2 – Tournus

After a light lunch of fresh local cheeses in the town square, head towards the Natural Reseve of Truchere where the wind has amassed tons of sand over 10,000 years to form dunes along the river Saone. On day 2, loop to Brancoin and climb up to the Col de Brancion before an amazing ascent to the Bourg’s center for a spectacular view. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the village of Cluny.
Day 3 – Beaune

Head north into the Chalonnaise appellation. This natural stretch in the Cote d’Or produced many of the same geological formations found in other well known valleys. The wines produced here have the best quality to price ratio.

Day 4—5 – Levernois

Visit the southern half of the Cote d’Or, starting with visits in Sautenay, Puligny and La Rocheport. Along the way, view magnificent examples of varnished-shingle roofs that you’ll find prevalent in all of Burgundy and contrasted with the lush vineyards surrounding the area. On the way back, stop in the historic center of the Galois. On day 5, dive into the Cote de Nuits along the Route des Grands Crus. Stop by the Chateau de Corton-Andre before rolling into the quaint village of Nuits-St. Georges, the city famous for its production of Grand Cru.

Day 6—7 – La Brussiere

After a walking tour of Beaune in the morning, head out to Volnay and Pommard. The day’s ride will end in the 13th century Abbey de la Bussiere, founded by a fraction of the Citeaux branch. On day 7, cycle to the beautiful church at Ternant. Afterwards, it’s off to the Chateau Gevery-Chambertin where anyone tempted at cycling the Mt. Afrique before heading back home will be delighted by its view from the top. Regroup back at the hotel for an unforgettable last meal.

Day 8 – Au Revoir!

Explore another part of town or take the group shuttle to the airport.
