A pioneer of trekking, river rafting, and wildlife safari trips in the most remote corners of the Indian Himalaya (Zanskar, Arunachal Pradesh, and the Spiti Valley) since 1995, Aquaterra Adventures usually doesn't encounter other groups on its routes. In part, credit goes to the company's guides—all of whom come from the Himalaya. If you are already planning to be in India, you can arrange for a weekend trip to one of Aquaterra's river camps, which have permanent, spacious tents with comfy beds.
