I just got back home on Friday. IT WAS AMAZING!!! The whole trip was wonderful, including cosy warm Ecocamp, the guides Rodrigo and Roberto, the fantastic weather ( I thought you had wind and rain in Patagonia!!) we were so lucky, and of course the scenery. I think you and Cascada did an excellent job. All pick-ups from airports and hotels were there on time. I have been on many trips before with other companies in other countries, but you delivered what you promised, a positive, environmentally responsible, unforgettable experience. The day we hiked to the base of the Torres del Paine is a day I shall treasure for ever. I also made some great new friends and our age span was 30-72! Thank you Ceci, you gave me total confidence before I left and I returned home with it. Where to next year, Cec? Kind regards, and heartfelt thanks, muchas gracias, David

I did want to tell you how FANTASTIC our trip was! Thank you for all of your help and encouragement in putting it together. Our guide Cristian Silva was excellent - very informed and very experienced and put a lot of effort into making sure that I had the food I needed based on my dietary needs! Thank you again! I have been recommending EcoCamp to everyone left and right. It is a beautiful facility! Hope all is well! Take great care!! Saludos! Ciao! Shari Goldsmith:)

Estamos ahora in Francia llorando su pais ! Nos viaje a Torres del Paine fue super ! I swicth to English which is easier for me. We have been very pleased with Ecocamp : the concept of respecting the environment, and having the sensation of a private camp was excellent. The two guides Isabel and Maïcha have been so nice, interesting and careful for us. they got along with our son as well as with us. The level of the treck, I am speaking for me, was well described. The lanscape is so magnificent that it was a joy to discover a new spot every day. we really enjoyed our 5 days and it has been a perfect way to finish our discovery of the country. If I have something to say, it is that this prestation of high quality, concerning the ecology and the sport spirit, is expensive. I am happy to have been able to afford it but I regret that it cannot be accessible for more people because when you add the airplane from Europe and in Chili, this is really an expensive trip. This will be the only reason which prevents me to recommend it to some of our friends who are visiting Chile. . Thank you for everything ! You have a great country with great people. Sincerely Marie Dommange 10-01-2007

Itinerary

The van picks us up at the hotel and we head downtown to “Mercado Central” the renowned market that supplies many Santiago homes and business with fresh fish and sea products all year round.

Then we walk to Plaza de Armas, Santiago’s main square, where everything started! It’s not only kilómetro cero, the point from which all distances in the country refer to, but the place from where we spot some of the nation’s most gorgeous architecture creating a theatrical spectacle. Today we can still find street photographers with old “machines of drawer”, salesmen, sketchers, shoes polishers and large amount of British doves, brought by a homesick English man. There stands the equestrian statues of Pedro de Valdivia, founder of Santiago and top figure of country’s early colonial history and Simón Bolívar, the South American liberator.

In the west side is the Cathedral. Four different churches have stood at that site, each of them devastated by a different calamity. In the North side is Correo Central, the present Post Office building, standing at the former site of the city governors' residence. Not far from here we reach Tribunales de Justicia, a well achieved neo-classical building, which houses Supreme Court and the ex-Congreso Nacional (Former Seat of Parliament) with pantheon-style columns and beautiful public gardens.

Now we move in direction of the Alameda through a pedestrian walk, the famous Paseo Ahumada, always crowded, there we can observe the variety of people living here. If we raise our head above the crowds, we see some truly beautiful architecture.

Then we are in the civic center where we find Palacio La Moneda, one of Santiago’s most recognizable landmarks, a symbol not only of Chilean democracy but of nationhood itself. It is also a remarkable building, one of the finest examples of late 18th century colonial architecture.

In the north side is the neat and geometrical Plaza de la Constitución and outside the south entrance of the palace is Plaza de la Ciudadanía.

After all this walk of sightseeing we go up to Cerro Santa Lucía where Pedro Valdivia founded Santiago in 1541 and from where we get a good view of Santiago. Our tour finishes visiting Lastarria neighborhood, an active cultural and gastronomic area where cafés and restaurants co-exist with theaters, bookstores and design shops.
