Horses, Horses, Horses,
Homeplace Ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, a Sarcee and Stoney Indian territory of the past that was and still remains cattle and horse country. Your stay will let you ride these rugged areas, venturing along lands the Indians called "Paradise". A year round working ranch, The Homeplace is 25 miles southwest of Calgary. Bordered by ranches and the Kananaskis Forest Reserve, the ranch offers an abundance of wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, beaver, grouse and other wild birds as well as native flowers and trees. Our 14 guests have 40 horses to choose from, so novice to advanced riders are satisfied. On your arrival you will be given a horse that will be yours for the duration of your stay. You can come out in the mornings to help the cowboys groom and care for the horses if you like. Not sure what to do? No problem, our cowboys will work with you.  The Homeplace Ranch has been owned and operated by the Makenny family for over 30 years.
