Located at the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park in the upper Gallatin Canyon, the Elkhorn has been a family oriented ranch since 1922.  Surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness, horseback riding and the out of doors are the focus of activity.  Individual log cabins, meals in the central dining room and the childrens program (trail riding begins at six years old) all make this a vacation for everyone.  Blue Ribbon fly-fishing rivers, including the Gallatin and the Madison, are nearby.  For more information call Linda Miller.

Itinerary

Ranch Dining

Meal times at Elkhorn are always an enjoyable part of the day, filled with lively conversation and laughter. The young eat together at one end of the lodgepole dining hall, where the Peanut Butter Mothers keep things running smoothly. Adults usually sit with other adults, both friends and family, as they wish.

Ranch Activities

You don't need prior experience to take advantage of our rides, which vary from short and easy to long and challenging. With relaxed instruction from our capable wranglers, you will soon feel safe and comfortable on horseback and be able to enjoy our high mountain country with its acres of mountains, meadows and streams.

Our foreman, Jim, will choose a horse for you from our herd of over 100 to suit both your interest and ability.

Ranch Lodging

Fifteen log cabins set the tone of the Elkhorn Ranch: rustic elegance, comfort, and hospitality. Built mostly in the 30's, each is set apart from the others, with its own view of the ranch meadow. Cabins vary in size, sleeping from one to eight people. All have been modernized; private baths have electric heat and many have claw foot tubs with showers.
