Smith Fork Ranch is a luxury guest ranch located on Colorado's Western Slope, seven miles east of the town of Crawford. We will be open from May 19th 2011 to February 19th 2012.  Throughout the season we are open to those 16 years and older, during our family weeks (June 19th - July 17th) we are open to those 6 years and older.  We can accommodate families with children of ANY age at ANY time for a Buyout of the Ranch.
The Smith Fork Ranch is nestled within the beautiful Gunnison National Forest adjoining the wild, untamed West Elk Wilderness. SFR and its surrounding area are home to stunning mountains, abundant rivers, high altitude streams and lakes, and breathtaking views. The Ranch itself has over three miles of private frontage along the Smith Fork of the Gunnison River and six trout ponds. In addition to the epic fly fishing offered here, we have an incredible equestrian program, we provide you a kind, trained horse yours for your stay and knowledgeable wranglers to guide you through our miles of trails and provide private lessons in our arena.  We also offer guided nature hikes, archery, organic gardening and cooking classes, area vineyard and artisan tours, back country fishing, white water rafting, and exploration of the nearby Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. And after all of that, enjoy a stream side massage in our outpost and a cocktail on our pavilion deck as the sun sets to the west and the alpenglow lights up Mendicant Ridge to the east. Then enjoy a three course gourmet farm to table meal with produce from our organic farmstead garden, local meats, and fresh baked goods.
And work it all off, if you so choose, with a private yoga class or in our fitness center, or on an all day back country hike.  Alternately, one can simply enjoy the surroundings stationary with a good book in one of our hammocks or hot tubs.
A trip to Smith Fork Ranch is more than a vacation, it is an experience you will never want to forget!

Itinerary

Ranch Dining

Smith Fork Ranch has a farm-to-table approach to cuisine, using local organically-grown fruits, vegetables, eggs, poultry, meat and game. We also harvest produce daily from our garden, so the menu changes with the season. Enjoy three course meals served on the pavilion, barbecue served stream side, gourmet picnic baskets, and a hearty breakfast served in the Dinner Bell Cook House or on the trail.

Ranch Activities

A full slate of activities and adventures designed for those who savor a breathtaking environment amidst towering peaks and high mountain meadows. Guests enjoy horseback riding, fly-fishing, archery, hiking, artisan and vineyard tours, the nearby Black Canyon National Park, spa and massage therapy, cooking and gardening classes, and just relaxing. The Elk Lodge offers billiards and snooker, a fly tying table, an extensive library, bar, a full workout room, game room, boutique, and fly shop.

Ranch Lodging

This 1930s-40s vintage ranch has been beautifully restored and updated, carefully retaining the character of its glory days. SFR has a maximum occupancy of 28.
