Horse Back Riding at the Ranch is one the main reasons people choose a Dude Ranch vacation and at the UXU you will find a diverse range of riding terrain that will allow everyone from the most seasoned cowboy to the upstart Green Horn a chance to enjoy this special activity.
Rides range from one hour to all day and we at the UXU try accommodate all levels of riding experience. With horses chosen just for you for the week and rides focused on what you would like, be it loping through a mountain meadow to cresting the high ridges, we can deliver!
Fly-Fishing at the Ranch, where the North Fork of the Shoshone River runs through it, to small beaver ponds or even the great Yellowstone Glacier Lake, is an experience that will be treasured. Our resident fly-fishing guide has worked them all, knows the best spots and understands the needs of the guest.
Our guide will be glad to work with you on your cast whether it be beginner or advanced and has the patience to assure everyone has a great time. The guide also knows when to leave well enough alone and allow the more seasoned individuals to spend a week doing what they enjoy in a place like no other!

Itinerary
Ranch DiningGourmet Foods prepared by two chefs include both hot and cold cooked to order breakfast, lunch with homemade soups, salads and sandwiches. Dinner at the Ranch is an experience - not just a meal. Entres are different every night with a choice of selected meats - such as tenderloins of Beef, Elk, Venison or Pork or seafoods such as Halibut, Salmon, Trout, or Prawns. We offer foods for all dietary needs and allergies also. We provide an early children's meal followed by games and entertainment.
Ranch Activities
There's plenty to do while you're here, from hiking to fishing to horseback riding to an adventure in Yellowstone Park. But if your idea of fun is sitting on the porch with a good book, or napping in the hammock with a cold drink, then we've got you covered there too.
Ranch Lodging
Our Cabins are located overlooking the Shoshone River with soothing, flowing water to wash away your cares as you lie in bed at night. We do provide in the cabins; robes, body lotion, conditioning shampoo, glycerin soap, bar soap, down pillows and comforters and minimal reading material (there is a small library in the lodge). In the Hollister, Hideout and the one bedroom cabins there are CD players with a limited selection.
