Zambia is one of the best kept secrets of Africa.  This small group safari will take you to one of the unspoiled, game-rich wilderness areas in Zambia – Kafue National Park.  The park is the largest protected area in Zambia, with more than 8,687 square miles of wilderness. It is home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, waterbuck and yellow baboons, and more than 500 bird species. In addition to game drives, this safari in Zambia includes exciting boating trips and walks. Your guides are knowledgeable locals on this trip, and you’ll sleep in high-quality chalets and tented camps.

Itinerary

Day 1-3 – LUFUPA, NORTHERN KAFUE: Upon arrival at Lusaka or Livingstone airport, you are met by and transferred by light aircraft to Kafue National Park. Your private guide will meet you at the airstrip in Kafue and transfer you to Lufupa Camp. This transfer is approximately 1 hour. En route you may encounter eland, roan and sable to name a few. Enjoy two full days of game drives on days 2 & 3 and all the other activities the camp has to offer. (B, L, D, Dr)  

Accommodation is in 6 large Meru-style tents with en-suite facilities. Dining and bar area are under huge jackalberry trees, overlooking the Kafue River. Dinners are served in a traditional-style boma under the stars, next to a lively campfire or in the tented dining room overlooking this impressive river.

Day 4-5 – BUSANGA PLAINS, NORTHWESTERN KAFUE: Depart Lufupa in the early morning and game drive to Musanza Tented Camp, located deep inside the wildlife haven of the Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park. (B, L, D, Dr)

Accommodation consists of 4 well-appointed tents with views of the wildlife on the grassy plains. The main dining and bar area are tented and situated under a canopy of trees.The simple bush style of this camp creates the perfect atmosphere to enjoy dinner under a canopy of stars around a campfire.

Days 6-7 – BUSANGA PAINS, NORTHERN KAFUE: After an early breakfast, we depart for an early morning game drive and transfer to Busanga Bush Camp which is located in the heart of the Busanga Plains. Activities include game drives, night drives, walking safaris, guided canoe and boating trips as well as fishing.  (B, L, D, Dr)

Busanga Bush Camp is perfectly situated for some of the best lion viewing in Africa. It offers 4 well appointed rooms built of reed and canvas with wall-to-wall views of the spectacular wildlife the frequents the plain in front of the camp.

Day 8 - FLIGHTS: After an early breakfast, helicopter transfer to Busanga Airstrip for your morning light aircraft transfer to Lusaka or Livingstone to fly home or extend your trip to visit South Luangwa National Park, Victoria Falls, Botswana, Cape Town, or Malawi. (B)
