Itinerary

Days 1-3

Buenos Aires
Faena Hotel + Universe

Upon arrival at Ezeiza International Airport, your representative will be on hand to escort you to your waiting private vehicle for the transfer to the hotel.
Welcome to Buenos Aires!
Elegant, old-worldly, with a touch of Paris here and of London there, a dash of New York cosmopolitanism and Italian exuberance here, the city nevertheless has a lot of Latin America in it as well. And some things that are uniquely Argentine, such as its tango bars and overflowing kiosks. Here, everything is grand, on a scale fit for kings: tourists photograph their steaks at the restaurant, Av. 9 de Julio ranks as the world's widest avenue, a cemetery so fancy that it occupies one of the poshest bits of downtown, the entire city fronts on the world's widest river. Buenos Aires never fails to impress.
This afternoon enjoy a walking tour around the hotel area. Walk along Alvear Avenue with your guide and discover this beautiful and elegant district, where you will find some of the best shops, restaurants, museums, art galleries and hotels as well. The tour will include a coffee at La Biela café, a traditional place in Buenos Aires.
Remainder of the day at leisure.
In the evening your guide will pick you up by the hotel for a very special and romantic dinner at Casa Cruz.
Faena Hotel + Universe is located in the El Porteño Building in the heart of Buenos Aires, Puerto Madero Este, a stone's throw from the Costanera Sur, the city's riverside promenade. The El Porteño Building is also home to 80 private residences. Each of the 108 rooms is designed to offer guests a unique experience in modern elegance. Inspired by Alan Faena and designed by Philippe Starck, the rooms are infused with the romance and decadence of la belle époque, while inspiring a sense of modernity and superior comfort.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel.
Today, meet your guide at the lobby of the hotel to begin a full day sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires. Start at the most important square of the country, the Plaza de Mayo (May Square). Here, where the country was founded in 1580, the most important governmental buildings are located, including the Casa Rosada (Pink House), the Cabildo (City Hall) and the Catedral Metropolitana (Metropolitan Cathedral).
Continue towards the picturesque district of La Boca, with its famous Caminito Street, one of the few outdoor museums in the world. There, numerous artists exhibit their works whose theme has to do with the influence of the European citizens (mainly Italians), that arrived at their port at the end of the XIX century.
The visit continues to San Telmo neighbourhood, one of the oldest of the city. This neighbourhood maintains a great part of its architectonic patrimony intact: its colonial style houses, its cobbled streets.
After visiting San Telmo the tour continues to the northern area of the city to visit the Palermo Parks and Recoleta, the most elegant neighbourhood of the city. Drive towards Palermo, a district with different faces: a classic one in Palermo Chico and a modern one in Palermo Hollywood and Soho. See its beautiful parks and gardens. Elegant mansions surrounded by green areas. We will pass by the Parque 3 de febrero (February the 3rd Park), the Biblioteca Nacional (National Library) and the Facultad de Derecho (Law School).
Continue to La Recoleta, one of the most elegant and sophisticated districts. Here you will visit 'Nuestra Señora del Pilar' Church and the Recoleta Cemetery, known worldwide due to its rich architecture and the famous personalities of the Argentine history and society that are buried there.
Lunch will be included at Cabaña Las Lilas restaurant in Puerto Madero.
Return to the hotel and enjoy some time at leisure.
Tango: the authentic music of Buenos Aires. Its origins are traced back to 1880 and its birthplace were the slums, inhabited by Italian and Spanish immigrants, Africans and “gauchos”. From this racial mix appeared the “compadritos” (small-time hoods) who tried to reflect in their music, their letters and their dance, the typical “cuchilleros” (knife fighters) duel characteristic of their social ambient.
Despite its humble origins, in the 20s tango left the brothels and the underworld districts to reach the high-class ballrooms, but it had to travel to Paris to come back triumphant. Forget the mannered ballroom dancing image: tango is real roots music: sometimes sleazy, sometimes elegant, but always sensuous, rhythmic and passionate.
This afternoon enjoy a tango lesson. Join Mayoral & Elsa María, the world famous dancers at their incredible early 1900s French-style mansion. This Tony Award-winning couple are the best people in Buenos Aires to teach the art of tango, whether they are novices or experienced dancers. Their impressive celebrity client list includes Bill & Hillary Clinton, Liza Minelli, and Whoopi Goldberg among others.
This evening, enjoy a special dinner at Esquina Carlos Gardel, where VIP seats will be arranged for you. Elegance and splendor share every corner of this dazzling place. This three level building, the upper two forming the VIP sector, will seduce you with refined details and furniture.
“The lights will dim and the orchestra will tune up as elusive legs will begin their dance.” Esquina Carlos Gardel is a revival of the tango sophistication, luxury, and style of the Golden Decade of Buenos Aires. The show, with its incomparable technical display and an artistic proposal  international level, weaves the audience into a mystic tango atmosphere. The sensuality underlying all choreographic patterns combines in a vivid tribute to tango.
The Orchestra mingles both dancers and voices, thus reaffirming unparalleled interpretative standards well worth of a standing ovation.
Esquina Carlos Gardel features the most delicious international dishes, as well as typical Argentine plates, and an exclusive selection of wines.

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel.
You will have this day at leisure to explore the city on your own.

Days 4

Corrientes
Rincon del Socorro

Breakfast at the hotel.
In due time your guide will pick you up for your transfer to Aeroparque airport for you flight towards Corrientes. Upon arrival a representative of Rincon del Socorro will be at hand for your transfer to the estancia.
Welcome to Corrientes!
The province of Corrientes is in a subtropical climate zone. The Iberá Marshlands are located in the province of Corrientes and represent one of the last ecological paradises in the world. With a surface of 3.000.000 acres , this region is an immense green labyrinth dotted with countless lagoons and furrowed by several streams and creeks.  The Ibera Natural Reserve is the largest of its kind in Argentina , being home of 350 birds species, 60 mammal species, 50 kinds of reptiles, 35 types of amphibians and 110 fish species, including piranhas (locally known as palometas)". Rest of the day at leisure.
Estancia Rincon del Socorro
A 12,000-hectare former cattle ranch on the edge of the Iberá wetlands that has been made into a nature reserve. Half of the trip is on a good paved road and the rest on an unpaved dirt roads. Dinner at Hostería Rincón del Socorro, a small, refined eco-tourist hotel in the ranch's recycled main house.
There are six rooms in the main house and three small bungalows within 50 meters of it, all with private bathrooms and most with sitting rooms. The main house has a large indoor living room, a screened veranda living room, a large indoor dining room, a terrace dining area, and a children's game room. On the grounds are a swimming pool, a screened barbecue house, and a barn with tack room from which all our rides depart. High ceiling and tiled floors keep the house cool inside and the subtropical heat at bay.
At Hosteria Socorro, the preparation and presentation of food is of the utmost importance.  They go to great lengths to provide healthful, top quality meals. Our vegetables and fruits come largely from the organic garden, picked just before they are prepared. In August, guests enjoy freshly made passion fruit ice cream, a specialty of the house. All of our breads and pastries are home made. The standard is to provide the same high quality food and eating experience one would find in the finest restaurants in Buenos Aires.

Days 5 & 6

Breakfast at the hotel.
Enjoy these two full days at leisure to enjoy the hotel outdoor activities.
There are a huge number of activities available at Rincon del Socorro for you to choose from. We have detailed some, but you may choose which and when you would like to join.
Bird Watching
Rincón del Socorro is an excellent place for birding; if you are not already a birdwatcher, it is very easy to become one here! In the four different habitats of this large former ranch, you can see an amazing number of different types of birds in a short time, including endangered species from the surrounding region that have found shelter here. You will learn about their behavior, habitats, migrations, and the problems caused by the degradation of their environment.
Much to the surprise of several ornithologists, the nearly extinct yellow cardinal can be seen hopping around in the lettuces in the organic garden! The estimated number of species identified in the Esteros del Ibera ecological system is nearly 400, and though we are still in the process of doing an inventory of the birdlife found in Socorro, we do know that a good percentage of those counted can be found on the estancia.
Horse back riding
Socorro is ideal horseback riding country and guests are encouraged to give it a try even if they're not seasoned riders. From the saddle you can see lots of wildlife; riding is the quickest, easiest and most pleasant way to get to know this ecosystem. The horses are well behaved and friendly and the guides keep a watchful eye out for all of our guests. This is a good opportunity to learn a few words in Guarani as our guides are still speaking among themselves in this ancient and harmonic language.
Boat and Canoe trips
The boat trip begins at the far end of the ranch 35 kilometers northeast of the hostería; it takes about 30 minutes to get there by car. Most guests prefer to make these trips in the early morning or early evening, when more birdlife and wildlife are about. We use two classic Iberá canoes and a flat-bottom aluminum boat with a small 20HP/4-stroke outboard engine. We also recommend a trip by canoe, as there is no replacing the sensation of being among wildlife with no industrial sounds to interfere with the myriad of sights and sounds one finds out in Laguna Ibera.
Nestled among native trees at the edge of the laguna, the bungalow barbeque area serves as the dock for all of our boat trips and the perfect spot to have a full asado lunch or light picnic before or after a boat trip.
Nature Walks
Guided or self-guided nature walks around the estancia are easy and you don't have to go far to see a lot of wildlife. Day hikes on easy to follow dirt roads and trails will take visitors by many different creatures and, if ones gets lucky, maybe see the illusive Maned Wolf! Go in the early evenings and you'll be surrounded by resident birds coming in to sleep for the night. Go on a night excursion and see hundreds of masked vizcachas come alive once the sun goes down.
Cattle roundups
Just 35 kms up the road, cattle roundups are underway at sister ranch, Estancia Ibera and guests are welcome to visit the estancia and see a real Argentine cattle operation at work. There is no forgetting the style of the Correntino gaucho on horseback, working the herd barefooted with spurs, and their distinctive hats specially designed for the intense sun.
The political bent of every gaucho is made apparent by the color of their scarves and, here in Corrientes, is the mark of the man.
Fly fishing
Arrangements can be made to make the ten-minute flight from Socorro to the sister Estancia San Alonso, located in the middle of the Esteros del Ibera. There, a boat and guide can take fishermen to the likeliest spots for good Dorado fishing.
