Ubud & Ayung River Valley

Learn about the Hindu culture and experience the traditional daily life of the rural Balinese. Explore village roads full of community farms and cottage industries. You may be invited into the homes of some of the local artisans and craftsmen to experience their hospitality — and let them share their skills and the stories behind their crafts. Trek into the Ayung River Valley, followed by a healthy picnic breakfast. (2B, L)

Nusa Dua, Bedugal & Lake Beratan

Enjoy a fascinating full-day tour of the lush green highlands of Bedugul. Visit the Candi Kuning Market with its colorful fruit and flower stalls. Travel to Lake Beratan to tour the 17th-century Ulun Danu Temple. Continue to Alas Kedaton or “Holy Forest,” where hundreds of monkeys live free in their natural habitat, residing high in the nutmeg trees and flourishing in the Pura Bukit Temple. End today’s journey with a spectacular sunset at the famous Tanah Lot Temple, built on a volcanic outcrop on Bali’s rugged west coast.

Yogyakarta, Borobudur & Depart for Home

Enjoy a drive down to the Kedu Valley to explore the Borobudur Temple. Buried for centuries under ash from a volcanic eruption, Borobudur Temple was rediscovered in 1814 and is celebrated as the largest Buddhist monument in the world. Your expert local guides will reveal its secret meanings and bring to life the knowledge contained within its reliefs.
