In Apulia there are many "preserved zones" and for nature lovers it will certainly be interesting to visit them and try to observe a rare migrant bird which stops here in crossing times.
Beginning from the North, we'll visit "Foresta Umbra" and the Gargano Park. From here we'll reach the Tremiti Isles by ferry, three beautiful isles surrounded by the transparent and clear Adriatic Sea.
In the middle of the regional territory is situated the Alta Murgia Park where live some species of birds which are going to extinguish: it will be amusing to try and see some of them or to go in search of the so called "cardoncello", a kind of tasty mushroom, worthy representant of the best Apulian cuisine. It is now preserved by the Association of Friends of Cardoncello Mushroom, which some famous characters belong to.
Then we'll move down to South and we'll get to the marvellous Oases of WWF.
Torre Guaceto near Brindisi is one of the damp zones recently taken over by WWF and later declared as preserved zone; the natural reserve of "Cesine" near S. Cataldo was once a wide swamp and today its big pine-wood is full of migrant birds; finally, the Park of "Porto Selvaggio", a real Earthly Paradise with astonishing cliffs and crystalline sea.
