I just want to thank you for a fabulous trip! You were particularly helpful with my pre and post- trip arrangements with alternative suggestions of local tours and optimal places to stay. The lodges were wonderfully varied to give us different experiences and habitats. It is nice to be sheparded occasionally through new airports and countries, although the challenge for a single gal helps keep the mind going too!

... Botswana made a terrific difference to the whole experience....

In sum, I loved it all.

Itinerary

DAY 1 DAR-ES-SALAAM
Upon arrival into Dar-Es-Salaam, you will be met by a Safari Ventures Representative and transferred to your hotel. Overnight at Holiday Inn [B]

DAY 2 DAR-ES-SALAAM- SELOUS GAME RESERVE
After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and transfer to Dar-Es-Salaam Airport for the flight to Selous Game Reserve.  The reserve is immense, remote and wild and no human habitation is allowed within its boundaries, apart from within camps and lodges. Today it boasts some of Africa’s finest virgin bush, unchanged through centuries and inhabited by three quarters of a million wild animals. Upon arrival you will be met by a Camp vehicle with game drive en route to the camp. Overnight Rufiji River Camp [B,L,D].

DAY 3 SELOUS GAME RESERVE
Morning and afternoon shared game activities, walking safaris and boat trips. Overnight Rufiji River Camp [B,L,D].

DAY 4 SELOUS-MIKUMI
After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred to the Selous airstrip for your flight to Mikumi. Covering an area of 3,230 sq km, Mikumi can be seen as an extension of the enormous Selous, just to the south. The surrounding Uluguru and Rubeho Mountains form a striking backdrop to the park, but it is the Mkata flood-plain which attracts the wildlife. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your lodge for lunch followed by afternoon game viewing. Overnight at Vuma Hills Lodge/ Foxes Safari Camp [B,L,D]

DAY 5 MIKUMI
Morning and afternoon shared game activities. Overnight at Vuma Hills Lodge/ Foxes Safari Camp [B,L,D]

DAY 6 MIKUMI- RUAHA
After breakfast you have a morning activity before being transferred to the airstrip for your mid-day flight to Ruaha National Park. At 13,000 sq km, Ruaha is not much smaller than the Serengeti. However, only a fraction has been developed for tourism. For those seeking adventure, this park should be on the list. Its landscape is fascinating and the wilderness vast. Here, rocky outcrops, steep gorges, wooded forests and miombo woodlands all centre around the flood plains of the great sandy Ruaha River. This captivating river is lined with tamarind, winterthorn and palm trees, making it a great haunt for hippo, kudu, lion, leopard and elephant. On arrival, you are met by a guide and transferred to the camp in time for a delicious lunch followed by a game drive within the reserve. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge [B,L,D]

DAY 7 RUAHA
Morning and afternoon shared game drives/activities. Overnight at Ruaha River Lodge [B,L,D]

DAY 8 DEPART

After breakfast depart on your last game drive with a lunch at the lodge before being transferred to Ruaha airstrip for the afternoon flight to Dar-Es-Salaam arriving in time to connect to your onward flight.
