Itinerary
DAY 1 - Buenos Aires
Arrival and meeting at the airport. Transfer to Hotel Bel Air or similar. Afternoon at leisure. Late in the evening we will enjoy dinner and tango show at the traditional “Esquina Homero Manzi”.
DAY 2 - Buenos Aires/ Iguazú – Yacutinga Lodge
Transfer to the airport and morning flight from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu. Welcome at the airport and transfer to Puesto Tigre. At La Blanquita Bay, located on the shores of the Iguazú River, we will board a motor boat to Yacutinga Port. Arrival and transfer through the Yacutinga Wildlife Nature Reserve to Yacutinga Lodge. Welcome dinner and overnight. (B, D)
DAY 3 - Yacutinga Lodge
Early breakfast. Later we’ll take a short hike to the San Francisco River where we will enjoy floating through quiet waters viewing a diversity of wild fauna. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we will explore the various interpretive trails with one of the resident naturalist guides. After dinner we will experience the Jungle at night (B,L,D)
DAY 4 - Yacutinga Lodge / Iguazu Falls
Morning at leisure to visit the Visitors Center, we will explore one of their self-guided trails, complete our checklist of viewed fauna, or you may relax by the pool. Transfer back to Puesto Tigre and to Hotel Sheraton, the only hotel located inside the park. You will have the rest of the afternoon and evening to enjoy the falls! (B)
DAY 5 - Iguazu Falls
Today we will enjoy a private excursion to explore the Argentinean side of Iguazú Falls. We’ll also take a boat excursion on the lower Iguazu River to get close to the San Martín Island, The Three Musketeers and the mighty Devil’s Throat.
Afternoon at leisure: You may relax at the hotel, you may walk along the upper and lower trails to see the falls again OR you may take an optional excursion to the Brazilian side of the park Note: Visa required for US citizens to visit Brazil. (B)
DAY 6 - Iguazu Falls/ Buenos Aires
Transfer to the airport and flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to our hotel. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a tour of this wonderful cosmopolitan city, capital of Argentina. (B,D)
DAY 7 - Buenos Aires / Lima
We will fly in the morning to Lima, Peru. Our local guide will meet us at the airport and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we will visit the beautiful colonial area of Lima including Plaza Mayor, Plaza San Martín, the Cathedral, the catacombs of San Francisco. Later we’ll visit the residential areas of Miraflores, Barranco and beaches (private excursion). We’ll return in the evening to our hotel. Dinner and Lodging at Hotel Jose Antonio or similar. (B,D)
DAY 8 - Lima/ Cusco
Today we’ll fly to Cusco in the morning. Arrival and transfer to Hotel Novotel or similar. Welcome drink with “Mate de Coca” and short rest before our afternoon excursion. We’ll visit the four most important ruins near Cusco: Kenko, an ancient religious center; Tambomachay, the Inca baths; and the grandiose Pucapucara and Sacsayhuaman fortresses. We’ll return to our hotel in the evening. (B)
DAY 9 - Cusco/ Sacred Valley, Pisa & Ollantaytambo.
After breakfast, we’ll leave on a full day group excursion to the Incas Sacred Valley visiting the picturesque town of Pisac and its Indian market. Lunch in Urubamba. Later we’ll continue to visit Ollantaytambo ruins and Chincheros market. We’ll return to Cusco in the evening. Lodging. (B,L)
DAY 10 - Cusco / Machu Picchu.
Breakfast. Transfer to the station. We’ll depart on the “Vistadome” train until Km104, to start the Inca Trail. We’ll hike for about 3 hours (8 km) and arrive at Winaywayna ruins, the most spectacular of the Inca Trail. Picnic lunch. Later in the afternoon we’ll continue hiking until arriving at the “Inti Punku” (La Puerta del Sol) where we’ll enjoy an incredible view of the Machupicchu. We’ll take the bus to the nearby village of Aguas Calientes. Dinner and lodging at Hotel Hatuchay Tower, Machu Picchu Inn or similar.
DAY 11 - Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu.
Early in the morning we will visit the fabulous Inca citadel of Machu Picchu where we will visit several sectors: The guards tower, the three window temple, the round altar, the intihuatana, the royal tomb, the jail, the cemetery, the terraces, etc. All these areas surrounded by high mountains covered with tropical forest. Lunch included. Lodging in Aguas Calientes. (B,L)
DAY 12 - MACHU PICCHU /CUSCO
Breakfast. Morning at leisure to enjoy the Hot Springs in Aguas Calientes (optional)
or you may climb up to Huayna Picchu, or "Young Mountain" (2,667 meters) which is the steep mountain that stands behind the citadel in the classic photographs of Machu Micchu. The ascent takes an hour along a narrow steep path and at the top there stands a set of terraces apparently built for ceremonial purposes, and the remains of a partially built temple (optional). Late in the afternoon return by train (Vistadome) to Cusco. Lodging at Hotel Novotel or similar. (B)
DAY 13 - CUSCO/ LIMA / USA
Transfer to the airport to take our flight to Lima. Later flight back to USA . (B)
