The focus of the first half of this trip will be hiking and visiting the plethora of pre-historic rock art panels, dwellings, and ceremonial sites of the Anasazi culture. We'll also be hiking atop ridges and slick rock to gain large landscape views. We have the luxury of choosing among the vast array of sites based on the quality of light at this time of year. Halfway through our trip we will then enter the canyon doors of the infamous Goosenecks of the San Juan River. The focus then shifts from archeology, at this juncture, to swift water, small rapids, and hikes to grottos and narrow side canyons with beautiful reflected light. Guides Brad Dimock, Kate Thompson, R.J. Johnson, and Andy Hutchinson, will have their usual bag of tricks to include stories, history, music, and geology.
