Itinerary
Day 1-3 - Kangaroo Island
Your tour commences this afternoon from Adelaide. Your guide, Mark Gleeson, will meet you on arrival and together you will all depart Adelaide on your Private Propjet Charter flight to Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. This short flight takes approximately 25 minutes and on arrival you will be met by Nick Hannaford from Lifetime Private Retreats, where you will be accommodated for the next two nights.
Enjoy a meandering Tasting Journey this afternoon enroute to your accommodation. Nick will have your driver drop in to a collection of local produce suppliers on the way to Lifetime Private Retreats and will pick up supplies at each to enable him to create a Kangaroo Island tasting menu for your dinner this evening.
With a box full of goodies you will head for LifeTime Private Retreats where you arrive at approximately 5pm, enough time to freshen up before dinner at the Cliff House.
For dinner tonight you will get to sample some of the fresh KI produce that Nick collected on your way to Lifetime Private Retreats.
After a sumptuous breakfast the following morning you will be going on a Hunting & Collecting tour for your lunch, and other weather permitting activities of your choice.
The afternoon is spent at your leisure, until you will be picked up for your 3 course fine dining meal against the back drop of grazing Kangaroos and the Southern stars.
Enjoy breakfast the next morning before Nick will transfer you to Kingscote Airport to meet your awaiting Propjet Charter flight onwards to Port Lincoln, Eyre Peninsula.
Day 3-5 - Eyre Peninsula
Arrive in Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula this morning, after your 35 minute flight from Kingscote. On arrival you will be met by your host David "Lunch" Doudle.
The fourth generation of a farming family, David spent 20 years working the land - that is, when he wasn't exploring the coast or fishing its rich waters.
In Port Lincoln you board the Calypso Lady which takes you on a short steam to a farmed tuna cage, the glistening Boston Bay (3 times the size of Sydney Harbour). A world first & exclusive activity to Port Lincoln, enjoy the opportunity to swim with, feed & photograph the mighty Southern Blue Fin Tuna.
Before heading to your waterside accommodation you will be able to witness and learn about the process of Factory Farmed Abalone.
Tonight's dinner will be held at Del Giorno's Restaurant, which was judged as South Australia's finest seafood restaurant in 2007 in the SA Seafood Industry Awards. Sit back, relax & watch or be as involved as you would like to be when head chef and owner Kris Bunder cooks up a number of seafood delights, including Coffin Bay Scallops, Black Mussels, Iki Jimi Snapper, and Leather Jackets.
A full cooked breakfast on your balcony starts of your day beautifully, after which you will be transferred to Coffin Bay. There are no other comparable systems of bays and inlets in so compact form anywhere on the coast. A 3 hour tour on the Coffin Bay Explorer gives you history and maritime information on the area, as well as on the oyster industry, which was started back in the 1860's when the Europeans first came to what was called Oyster Town.
After a visit to an oyster farm you move on to the Coffin Bay Yabby & Marron Farm. All the yabbies and marron are purged in circulating and cooled tanks and further chilled before packing, as all products is sold alive.
On arrival back at your accommodation you will have time to rest and relax before your special Eyre Peninsula dinner.
Another balcony breakfast finishes off your stay at the Peninsula and you will be transferred to the airport mid-morning for your flight onwards to Gawler and the Barossa Valley.
Day 5-7 - Barossa Valley
On arrival at Gawler Airport you will be met by your private driver and transferred to the award winning Food Forest which was declared Australia's top organic producer of fruit and nuts, wheat and vegetables, free range eggs, honey, carob beans, cider, olive oil and many other delicacies in 2003.
Lunch with the Food Forest' owners Graham and Annemarie will give you a chance to enjoy the vitality of freshly picked salads, cider, wine and fruit juice, along with seasonal and preserved produce, good company and lively conversation about food and its future.
After lunch you will be transferred to The Louise in the Barossa Valley, where you can check-in and freshen up before embarking on an afternoon tour of this region.
At Seppeltsfield Winery you will be getting a private tour with a Seppeltsfield Wine Specialist and have a private tasting of the 100 year Port & the Paramount Range.
From the winery your driver will take you to The Barossa Valley Cheese Company you have the opportunity to indulge in the large range of cheese, 14 different styles to be precise.
Dinner and a tour of Hutton Vale Estate, 2000 acres of picturesque rolling country side, will sum up your first day in one of Australia's nicest wine regions.
In the morning you enjoy an in-suite continental breakfast before embarking on a day of further touring throughout the Barossa Valley.
The Apex Bakery, Maggie Beer's Farm Shop, Henschke Wines, Radford Wines, Penfold Winery, and Tscharke Winery are the delights of the day, offering you private tours, tastings of iconic wines and to pick your own collection of goodies.
Tonight's dinner will be at The Louise's "Appellation" which will include an insider's view and the opportunity to meet with the key people who make this on-site Restaurant the success that it is.
Your trip is nearly coming to an end with this morning's in-suite continental breakfast, before making your way back to Adelaide.
On arrival back into Adelaide you will conclude your most memorable Food Safari with a Private Central Markets Tour with your Food Safari host - Mark Gleeson. (This tour is dependent on your travel dates).
