Fun and scenic mountain bike trails are within shouting distance of Sunriver. Our Sunriver Cycling Tour will complete your Central Oregon vacation with fabulous views and history of the volcanic area - all by mountain bike!
Cog Wild will start your tour from the top of Lava Butte with views of the Cascade Range. From here we travel down to the lava flow where we enjoy a spin under the pine trees to Benham Falls. After stopping for photos we continue along the rushing Deschutes River, all on fun cycling trails and fireroads.

Itinerary
Our tour begins in Sunriver at either Sunriver Resorts main entrance or the Village Mall. Make sure to bring your camera to capture the views of the entire Cascade range including Mt Bachelor, the Three Sisters, Broken Top, Mt Jefferson and Mt Washington.
After a paved road descent off the butte, the rest of our cycling tour is on dirt and lava rock. We will ride a narrow and buff trail skirting the massive lava flow all the way to the Deschutes River. Along our ride we can opt to ride out on to the flow, giving us an amazing perspective on how big and scary the flow must have been when it was still hot.
Once on the river, the trail continues down to Benham Falls, a tumultuous class 5 rapid. If you are lucky, you may see a daring kayaker brave the huge rapids. Our ride will bring us right back to Sunriver Lodge, and you will arrive tired and happy after experiencing the legacy of Sunriver's volcanic past.
