Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok.   We meet you at the airport and your adventure is underway.  Tonight we stay at the very nice Royal River Hotel.  Our first meal together will be Dinner.  A really fine restaurant with dining on the edge of the river will end our evening.   Some of you may choose to go out on the town in the evening to explore the Bangkok nightlife.

Day 2:  We leave the hotel at 8:00 AM.  A 2 1/2 hour drive gets us to Kanchanaburi.  Here we will check into our rooms.  Following lunch all of us will head out to the Temple, a 45 minute drive further into the countryside.
When we arrive at the Temple we'll have an opportunity to Walk with the Tigers as the Abbot leads the tigers down to Tiger Valley.  Then we have the first unique and exciting tiger encounter.  For the next several hours you have the chance to sit with the tigers, pet them and have your photo taken with them.  Those making a small donation to the Temple also have the opportunity to have a tiger lay its head in their lap.  What an experience!    We eat dinner around 7:00 PM tonight.

Day 3:  Today we have breakfast at the VN Guesthouse and then the morning is yours to explore the nearby town or just relax in the open air restaurant and watch the river flow by.  We leave for the Temple around 11:45.  Today we repeat the experience we had yesterday.  A last chance to walk with an adult Tiger.

Day 4:  Today we visit the Elephant Park and begin two days of work & play at the camp.  Each guest has the choice of staying at the camp overnight or returning to the VN Guesthouse for the night.   If you stay at the Park your meals will be eaten at the Park.  Those returning to VN Guesthouse will eat dinner at a restaurant in town.

Day 5:  Our second work day with the elephants.  Our guests who stayed at the Guesthouse in Kanchanaburi must leave this morning at 8:30 AM in order to arrive at the Park late morning.  Tonight we all join together again and stay at VN.  Dinner will be around 7:00 PM.   There is a good opportunity to get a 60 minute Thai massage for about $3 to $10 in the section of town just a couple blocks from our rooms.

Day 6:  Today we travel to the Bangkok Airport and then fly north to Chiang Mai.  We should arrive in the early afternoon.  We'll be staying at the Bau Tong Lodge, just a few blocks from the huge night market and bazarre.

Day 7: Today each group member has a choice to make.  To view details of the various options CLICK HERE.
A.  Travel 1 hour from Chiang Mai to the Mountains near Chiang Dao.  Then stay overnight in a mountain tribe village.   This village is actually an eco-lodge and is a very relaxing place to stay.   Massage, sauna in the forest and a peaceful river running by our lodging.
B.  Instead of staying at Mae Mae Village HIKE 15 kilometers into the mountains and stay overnight at a remote village.  This village is seldom visited by outsiders and the people still live much the way they have for a thousand years or more.
C .  You may choose to stay at the Bau Tong Lodge and just explore the town and the nearby sights of interest.  This is the choice most of our travelers choose.  There are many interesting sites to see near and in town.  The village is too rustic for many travelers

Some people want to shop while in Thailand and Chiang Mai is the best place for getting some great deals on elegant gold or silver jewelry.   Thailand is home to many Sapphire and Ruby mines, so the stones are very inexpensive when compared to similar quality purchased in the USA.

Day #8:  Today we finish whichever option we started yesterday.   We all meet together again at the lodge in Chiang Mai.  We will have dinner together tonight.

Day #9:  We leave Chiang Mai this morning and fly back to Bangkok.  This is where our tour ends.  Now you can choose to extend your time in Bangkok or you should arrange your flight home for an afternoon departure.
