Highlights: See endemic species in their habitat like Asiatic lion at Gir, Indian Wild Ass at the Little Rann and Black Bucks at Velavadar, the best of aquatic and dryland bird species

Introduction: This tour takes you to the forests of Gir, the last bastion of the Asiatic Lions and the beautiful Velavadar National Park which boasts of the highest density of Black Bucks. We will also explore the extraordinary Rann or the 'Area where nothing grows.’ This sparse and salty lowland interspersed with sandy islets of thorny scrub is home the highly endangered Wild Ass (locally known as Khur).

Apart from lions, Gir also has one of the largest leopard populations in any park in India, making it a good place to see big cats of a different kind. Other wildlife to look out at Gir are the Four-Horned Antelope (the only four-horned ungulate in the world), Indian gazelle (Chinkara), Spotted Deer (Chital), Blue Bull (Nilgai), Wild Boar, Wolf, Hyena, Jackal, Jungle Cat and other small mammals. The Kamleshwar dam in the middle of the sanctuary is also home to a record number of marsh crocodiles.

Little Rann is a resting site for migratory Siberian birds and the breeding grounds for some of the largest flocks of Greater and Lesser flamingoes. During the safaris you can see large flocks of larks and other dryland birds such as coursers, plovers, chats, warblers, babblers and shrikes. Among the many winter visitors are the Houbara Bustard and Spotted Sandgrouse.

The Wolf is the apex predator at Velavadar. Others mammals seen here include the fox, jungle cat, hyena and wild pigs. The harrier roost out here is one of the largest in the world and a truly fascinating sight.

We would like to thank you for making our last trip to India so successful and pleasurable. As you know, we have traveled to India twice recently, and you made this last trip convenient, efficient and so comfortable for us. As photographers our needs are many and specific, but your office staff, guides and drivers worked in concert to meet our constant demands. We appreciate your expertise and friendly customer service and we will highly recommend your company to colleagues and friends in the future. We look forward to our next photography trip to India and we look forward to working with your company again.

Being a wildlife photographer all you need when traveling is the right light at the right place and moment. Light is all about photography and only Mother Nature can decide about it. Nevertheless having guides that know where and when the right light might be, helps a lot! I would like to thank Wild World India for the great support, perfect organization and best guides during our tiger-shooting safari in India.
