When most of Europe was still a collection of small towns
and feudal manors, Burgundy was synonymous with splendor,
power and grace. Its influential past can be seen today through
its remarkable chateaux, many of them architectural masterpieces.
Burgundy enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellent cuisine,
fine wine, and beautiful countryside, and is the perfect place
for our low-level explorations by balloon. Fourteenth-century
castles and medieval market towns with charming stone houses
dot the rolling green hills, unfolding in a lovely tapestry as we
drift through ancient villages, Old World farms and world-class
vineyards such as Montrachet, Meursault and Pommard.

    Dear Buddy,

I want to thank you for the wonderful time in Beaune last weekend. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hote1, visiting the caves, and floating through the air.

You've got a wonderful operation going--not only is the ballooning breathtakingly beautiful, but also everyone connected with the program is enthusiastic and friendly. It was exactly the sort of breather that we needed from filming.

Let us know when you get an airship service going; I'm eager to trying flylng again soon. Maybe next summer I'll come to the Alps for a longer holiday--like three days or so.

Thanks again for a delightful adventure.

    Best wishes,

Buddy, we are still knocked out by our wonderful ballooning trip with you. You made it absolutely perfect, and I know not all noveau balloonists are so lucky! Thank you more than I can possibly ever say -- we have told enough people about Buddy bombard to start a stampede and we shall never ever forget the wonderful time we spent in your balloons at the Malcolm Forbes Balloon Festival.

    All my best wishes,

Itinerary

Day 1 – Meet us in Paris at 9:00 a.m. for transfer to
medieval Beaune, Burgundy’s center for wine making.
Elegant lunch at Le Montrechet then check in for
four nights at Hotel Le Cep, our 14th - 18th century
chateau-hotel. Late afternoon balloon adventure
just-above-the-rooftops of 14th century castles and
villages, landing at twilight. Dinner prepared by
our own chefs in the vaulted, candlelit chambers of
14th century Chateau Savigny-les-Beaune.

Day 2 – Morning visit and wine tasting at the
14th-17th century wine cellars of Patriarch,
the largest in Beaune with six million bottles. For
lunch we’ll be the private guests Burgundy’s famous
personality and our good friend, the Countess de
Loisy, at her 15th century wine estate. The Countess
entertains us with stories of her ancestry and the
German occupation of her home during WWII, and
shows us her chateau and extraordinary cellar with
3,000 wooden barrels. We’ll visit the 12th century
monastic winery of Clos de Vougeot, home of The
Confrerie des Chevalier du Tastevin, and the vineyards
of Romanee Conti, the most expensive red wine in
the world. Late afternoon balloon adventure through
vineyards and enchanting villages, with candlelit
buffet dinner in a medieval setting.

Day 3 – Morning visit to the workshop of Claude
Gillet, where he and his family make 50 wooden
wine barrels a day hand for the world’s most
prestigious wineries. Then we’re off to the 13th
century fairytale fortress of Chateau de la Rochepot,
one of the best existing examples of a Middle Age
fortress. Elegant luncheon at Loiseu des Viones and
free time to browse in Beaune’s quaint medieval
square. Late afternoon balloon adventure and dinner
prepared by our own chef.

Day 4 – Explore the marvelous 15th century
Hospice de Beaune, Burgundy’s most important
architectural landmark. Originally a charity
hospital and refuge for the poor, philanthropists
donated tracks of land which evolved into
vineyards and provided steady income for the
hospital and region. Today Burgundy’s most
important wine auctions take place at the Hospice
de Beaune. We’ll lunch at elegant Chez Morillon,
one of Beaune’s most notable restaurants and visit
the Wine Museum of Burgundy, once the medieval
residence of the Dukes of Burgundy. Late afternoon
balloon adventure through storybook scenery,
followed by dinner and graduation ceremonies
in the flower-filled orangerie of Chateau de
LaBorde, Buddy Bombard’s home in France.

Day 5 – Depart Beaune at 10:00 a.m. for transfer to
Paris, with lunch enroute. Arrive Paris late afternoon.
