Day 2 – Lesser Town - Venice Boat Tour
Early morning shoot. Cross the Vltava River to the Hanavsky Pavilion for one of the best views and photo ops of this famous river and its string of ancient bridges. Shoot another great view point from the top of the “Lesser Town” Bridge Tower where you will capture 360-degree views of quintessential Prague architecture with it’s sea of scalloped, red-brick colored rooftops and the Charles Bridge.
Then you’ll have some free time to explore and shoot on your own in Prague. Suggested photos ops include: the Jewish Quarter (Josefov) with its unique cemetery, the Old New Synagogue, take the 299 step climb up Petrin tower for amazing views, or go up the Old Town Bridge Tower - a fine example of Gothic architecture dating from the late 14th century. The viewing platform is 18m above Charles Bridge with unique views of the bridge, the Old Town and Prague Castle.
Later in the afternoon we will meet under the Chain Bridge for the Venice Boat Tour. Climb aboard the authentic 19th century wooden sailing boats that will cruise the Vltava River passing by infamous sites as well as the “off the beaten path” hidden channels of Certovka Canal. From a sailor’s perspective you’ll pass by the watery casemates of the Old Town, the side channel of the Vltava called Devil's Stream (Certovka) then through a lagoon under Karlovy Lazne (Karlovy Spa), the Prague Castle, Petrin Hill, Lesser Town roofs, the National Theatre and then a drive under the Charles Bridge.
In the early evening, bring your cameras to cocktail hour on the roof of the U Prince Hotel in Old Town Square and photograph the charming city views. Dinner on your own. Over night at the hotel.
Day 3 – Central Bohemian Region: Krivoklat & Karlstejn Castles
After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for a one hour drive to the Central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic to explore and photograph the Krivoklat and Karlstejn castles. From a horse carriage ride, shoot the Karlstejn castle and the Nezabudice Cliff. Return back to your hotel by the late afternoon with a few hours of free time to explore the city of Prague on your own.
Day 4 – Charles Bridge & Castle District
Take a short walk to Charles Bridge from the hotel to capture magical images of this striking bridge (before the crowds arrive) during an early morning photo shoot as the morning light moves across the unique combination of gothic construction and baroque statues on this famous bridge. Charles Bridge is the oldest bridge in Prague. It is almost 10m wide, 516m long and rests on 16 arches. Towers guard both ends of the bridge – the Old Town Bridge Tower and two Malá Strana Bridge Towers. The bridge is embellished with 30 Baroque statues and sculptural groups from the early 18th century depicting saints, and historical and biblical figures. Charles Bridge is a popular place among street performers and artists - painters, musicians, dancers, mime artists who have established their own association called the Association of Charles Bridge Artists.
Capture the Castle District’s cobbled streets, narrow stairways, vast gardens, moats and thousands of statues. Photograph views from across the river of Prague from the Prague Castle’s steep walls and shoot the interior of St Vitus Cathedral and the Old Royal Palace. Hone your environmental portrait photography with a photo shoot of models dressed in traditional 16th Century costumes with the multi-colored, ancient Golden Lane houses as your backdrop. This small street is lined by 11 historic houses, which exhibit medieval armory and textiles and is named the Golden Lane/Zlatnicka Ulicka (Goldsmith's Lane) due to the many goldsmith's residing here during the World War I. The renowned writer Franz Kafka also lived in the Golden Lane for some time.
After lunch on your own in Castle District, we will depart for a one-hour drive to Kutna Hora - a historical UNESCO town reserve and a superb example of preserved medieval architecture. Photograph the interior of the famous Bone Chapel (Kostnice-Sedlec) where human bones of 40,000 dead people have been preserved and assembled in the monastery cemetery chapel. Photograph St Barbara Cathedral interior, the Royal Mint and the centre of Kutna Hora. Depart back to Prague for dinner on your own and then photograph Charles Bridge and views of Prague Castle in evening light at the best location in front of Bellevue restaurant on East side of the river.
