You will depart Anchorage in the morning from the Lake Hood Landing
Strip and head towards Katmai National Park, home to an abundance
of brown bear and spectacular glaciers. We will land on a remote
ocean beach, and walk along viewing the coastal Brown Bears -
the largest bears in the world. Bears come out along the beach
to eat the sea grass, catch salmon, dig clams and just relax on
the beach! Beachcombing is also excellent along these beaches,
and we may be fortunate enough to find items such as antique glass
balls, (Japanese fishing floats), ship wrecks, and even a message
in a bottle every once in awhile! There is even a family of foxes
that often come out to visit us, and love to have their pictures
taken. You will also see active volcanoes, still producing ash,
lava and steam. This will be a photo safari opportunity like no
other. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy a picnic
style lunch or a shore lunch of fresh salmon (if available) cooked
using secret family recipes; this will definitely be a meal to
remember!

"Joe
Darminio was our pilot and guide for an incredible adventure as
we circumnavigated all of Alaska that few people will ever see.
Joe's knowledge of secret locations had us walking alone and up
close among dozens of huge grizzlies, visiting remote time-warped
Inuit villages, staying in amazing fly-in-only wilderness luxury
lodges that overlooked thousands of migrating caribou, and cresting
countless spectacular mountain peaks, gigantic ancient glaciers,
whale-filled emerald bays and breathtaking waterfalls. Throughout
it all, Joe was the consummate professional with just the right
amount of humor and respect. His piloting skills and concern for
safety were constant as we took off and landed smoothly on narrow
streams, remote inlets and tiny ponds. We have traveled and lived
all over the world and this was as good as it gets"

Itinerary
Extend your daytrip to include a night or two at a beautiful
wilderness lodge where we will be met by our hosts with a home
cooked meal and relaxing accomodations. The only way to get
to these lodges is by bush plane...So this is truly an unforgettable
trip.
First we will be shown to our rooms to freshen up, and get ready
for a big family style dinner. The lodges we stay at are often
hand constructed from local logs, and feature private guest
rooms and cabins for our group. It is a truly wonderful setting
and you will have everything that you would want or need, with
service to match. At dinner we will discuss our trip and meet
new friends.
We love sharing with you our stories from the bush, and I promise
a lot of laughing, and good times! After dinner, you might take
a walk, boat ride, or simply retire for the evening.
