DAY 1 Arrival to Ljubljana
Arrive to Ljubljana capital of Slovenia explore the old part of the city. The quaint, narrow streets along the bank of the Ljubljanica River with its medieval bridges are reminiscent of Prague - without the crowds. The stories of the old- revealed under the 16th century fortification of Ljubljana Castle.

DAY 2 Kranjska Gora - Bled lake
Kranjska Gora lies in the NW Alpine part of Slovenia and is famous for Ski world cup taking place there. Start your cycling trip in the direction of Lake Bled. The highlight of the day is isolated valley of Radovna, a dream for anybody in love with nature - blueberries sleeping on the green meadows, herds of cows grazing and cold streams whispering. End the day by the Lake Bled with a small isle in the middle. It is the very image that represents Slovenia world-wide. Try famous Kremsnita cake and take a dip into the lake.

DAY 3 Bled - Bohinj lake
From Bled Lake bike the canyon of Sava river which brings you to the glacier area of Bohinj Lake - surrounded by a net of picturesque villages situated near the lake and a perfect place to see the mountains of the Triglav national park. The area encompasses numerous waterfalls and two green valleys which connect together at the crystal-clear lake. In the evening, try some shepherd's delicacies at the local restaurant.

DAY 4 Bohinj - Tolmin
To make the trip easier cross the Alps underground. Take a 15min train ride to get on the other side of the mountains. From here cycle in a very remote area famous for the best cheese in the country. Being on the western side of the Julian Alps, enter the valley of the turquoise river Soca - considered to be one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. Spend the night in Tolmin and make an optional side trip to the hidden gorge of Tolminka river.

DAY 5 Tolmin - Gorizia
Today you leave the Alps behind and continue due south. Warm up on the uphill ride bringing you to the untouched plateau of Cepovan. A lovely ride through dense forest (Slovenia is the most forested country in Europe) and remote villages leads to the town of Nova Gorica, right on the border with Italy. Just above you, the hills of Goriska Brda region - celebrated as one of the best winegrowing areas in Slovenia. Spend a night in a brilliantly restored palace on the Italian side.

DAY 6 Gorizia - Komen
In the early morning, leave Goriza and cycle to Karst plateau rising above the Adriatic Sea. Hospitable villagers, amazing rock formations, pleasant climate and superb cuisine give the region a special charm. Linger in tiny villages at the centre of limestone landscape of Karst. In the hinterland of the former Austro-Hungarian port of Trieste, villages used to be important salt trading post en route between Trieste and Vienna. Stroll along the narrow stone alleys and enjoy a glass of an excellent Terrano wine.

DAY 7 Komen - Lipica
Slovenian Karst is the mother of all Karst and gave name to the landscape as far away as Guilin in southern China, Halong Bay in Vietnam and Vinales in Cuba. Cycle across rolling hills in the direction on Lipica - famous for its stud farm breeding white Lipizzaner horses. The horses were the pride of the Austro-Hungarian emperor and were recently given as a gift to Queen Elizabeth.

DAY 8 Lipica - Piran
From Lipica cycle to the end of the plateau where craggy limestone cliffs overlook the coast. The landscape has changed completely from your first day - you are now in the Mediterranean part of Slovenia. Ride on the trails, among olive and juniper trees trough old villages with their own slow pace of life. Cross on the Italian side before finishing the tour in medieval coastal town of Piran - celebrated for its famous composer Tartini and its cultural heritage.

DAY 9 Piran - Ljubljana
After breakfast, explore Piran and than transfer to the capital of Slovenia. Ljubljana is a fine place to shop around for antiques or to get lost in one of the cafes situated along Ljubljanica river. After all, one deserves a nice Illy cappuccino and fresh tiramisu to contemplate all those miles on the road.
