At the base of the famous Agawa Canyon in Lake Superior Provincial Park, flows the crystal clear Agawa River. Each Canada May holiday weekend, we offer a whitewater canoe trip tracing the Agawa from Canyon train station to mighty Lake Superior. It's a great trip designed for people with basic white water paddling experience.

We begin this canoe course at Naturally Superior Adventures paddling center on Friday afternoon with a white water paddling refresher. Basic white water canoe safety and trip orientation takes place that evening over a fish BBQ at our Lake Superior lodge. Accommodations are beach tents or yurts or for an additional cost, accommodations at our lodge.

On Saturday we catch the Algoma Central Railway southbound to the Agawa Canyon put-in. There will be a wide variety of rapids along the route and highlights include Bridal Veil Falls, roaring Agawa Falls and historic Burnt Rock Pool.

Itinerary

This trip has an instructional component and is designed for advanced/novice and intermediate paddlers who have good flat-water paddling skills and some moving water experience.

Our Guides are certified with Advanced Wilderness First Aid and offer helpful instruction whenever the need arises. There is always the option of portaging any rapids you don't feel comfortable paddling. This is a great opportunity to experience this wonderful river in safety and comfort without the logistical worries usually associated with river travel. We often see moose, ducks and eagles on the trip.
