Kerry is the jewel in the crown of Ireland – and we are not biased, just because we live here!! KERRY gives you a taste of everything – mountains, bogs, coastline, beaches – you name it, we have it … It is a glorious place and we divide it into the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle Peninsula and North Kerry (part of our Traditional Ireland trip) for the various holidays we offer here.

In 2005 Bob and I discovered South West Walks Ireland. Wow, what an exciting discovery.
In 2009 we signed up for our 4th walk. We have walked The Ring of Kerry, The Dingle Peninsula, The Glens of Antrim and The Giant’s Causeway and this year The Mayo Coast and Achill Island. Green, green, green, many shadesabsolutely loved the views everywhere we went.
We walked on stone paths lined by hedges, passed ruins of famine villages and stone bee huts.
Walked on long beaches, climbed up mountain paths. The views from the hills we climbed were incredible, it was hard to believe we had walked that far or climbed that high to look down at waves crashing against the cliffs. We enjoyed great accommodations, picnic lunches that we prepared each morning, delicious Irish meals and fun pub experiences.
South West Walks Ireland owners Linda and John and their guides are well organized, lots of fun and are very knowledgeable about their country and the areas they are guiding. The office staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful.
Don’t miss an opportunity to explore and enjoy your trip to Ireland with South West Walks.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive at 17.00 hrs. for a meeting at your guesthouse in Sneem where you will stay for the first night of your holiday. Evening meal together and a general chat about the coming days walks. * It’s possible to join this day’s walk as part of the week long Kerry Peninsula Holiday but you would need to be at the B&B by 09.00 hrs. on Tuesday morning. There is no extra charge for this day’s walk.
Day 2 This morning, we transfer you to the historic Derrynane National Park and Abbey Island with great coastal vistas, where you will enjoy a wonderful morning walk. This was once the home of Daniel O’Connell, The Liberator. From here you continue along this majestic coastline with views out to the Skellig Rock, to the lovely village of Waterville. Short transfer this afternoon to Caherciveen for evening meal and overnight.
Walk Details - Distance: 16kms. Duration: 5 hours. Max. Height: 300m. Some road walking, grass tracks and rough heather. Boots essential.
Day 3 This is your ‘free day’ to allow you to partake in other activities if you wish – such as cycling, horseriding, canoeing or just laze around with a book! We may arrange a visit to the famous and spectacular monastic island of Skellig Michael, 12 kms. off the coast, if weather, sea and boats permit! A walk on Valentia Island is another excellent possibility. Dinner and overnight in Caherciveen.
Day 4 Today, you follow an ancient and fascinating stagecoach trail from Kells, just outside Cahersiveen, and enjoy the most wonderful scenery of the week as you walk along the shores of Dingle Bay east towards Glenbeigh. A truly memorable walk for your last day on the Ivreagh Peninsula. Transfer back to Caherciveen for overnight and farewell dinner.
Walk Details - Distance: 18kms. Duration: 5 hours. Max. Height: 450m. Grass and rocky tracks, open bog land and some road walking. Boots essential.
Day 5 Departures. After breakfast, we offer a courtesy transfer to Killarney Bus/Rail Station arriving there at approx 09.45/10.00 hrs. From there you will find bus connections to Shannon Airport - 3 hrs. approx and Cork Airport – 2 hrs. approx.
