Day 1 - Day 3

Little Kulala is a luxurious desert retreat situated in the private 37 000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve - the gateway to Namibia's Sand Sea with its towering dunes and clear starry skies. consists of 11 climate-controlled, thatched "kulalas" (the word means 'to sleep') which merge impeccably into the timeless desert landscape, with exquisite fittings and fixtures, and innovative bleached decks - each with a private plunge pool. Each kulala has a rooftop 'skybed' for romantic stargazing, with both indoor and outdoor showers. Little Kulala features an elegant entertainment area which includes a library, wine cellar, craft boutique, lounge and dining areas. Dining under the clear Namibian skies is a highlight. The interiors have been designed to provide an all-natural and unique experience in this most beautiful environment. The extensive use of neutral colours, gorgeous textures and natural light reproduce the soothing pastel tones of the desert. Pure linens, cottons and mohair dyed with natural vegetable dyes all make for a very organic camp which takes its inspiration from its surroundings, notably from the magnificent Dead Vlei in the middle of Sossusvlei. The overall mood and feel is cool, serene, organic and sheltering. Desert-adapted wildlife such as ostrich, springbok and gemsbok eke out an existence and are sparsely distributed around Little Kulala. Smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox and aardwolf can be seen at night in the cool desert air. One bird, the aptly named dune lark, has its entire global distribution limited to the area, so dependent is it on the area's characteristic sands. Activities at Little Kulala start with morning guided drives to the spectacular towering dunes of Sossusvlei, through a private gate into the reserve. Sossusvlei is situated within the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, which itself is part of the Namib Naukluft National Park that stretches 400km south of Walvis Bay and is sandwiched between the west coast and the escarpment that runs parallel more than 100km inland. Its huge dunes and flat valley floors make up the archetypical view of the Namib that is world famous. Guided drives and walks are also offered on the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve with incredible views, desert-adapted wildlife and plants. Another option, at an extra cost, is early morning ballooning, beginning at first light. The balloon safari offers a truly unique experience to soar silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert, with a champagne breakfast being served at your landing site. Finally, camel rides are offered at extra cost, where guests can enjoy a leisurely walk on 'ships of the desert' through the Reserve and learn about their adaptation to desert environments.

Day 3 - Day 5
Sefofane charter flight Sossuvlei – Damaraland via Swakopmund
Fly over the dunes of the Namib and Sossusvlei to gain a different perspective of the area from the air. You continue westwards to Meob Bay on the Atlantic Ocean and then fly up the Skeleton Coast. The flight offers spectacular desert and Skeleton Coast scenery, where the dunes and the desert meet the Atlantic Ocean. Your flight takes you over the site of the Eduard Bolen shipwreck, past Conception Bay and the wreck site of the Shaunee, over Sandwich harbour and its famous lagoon, and the flamingoes at Walvis Bay. Your flight lands at Walvis Bay, where you enjoy a boat trip to see the seals, dolphins and possibly penguins. You arrive in Swakopmund, where you board another aircraft and continue up the Skeleton Coast, over the Cape Cross Seal Colony, before turning east, flying up the Huab River to Damaraland Camp. Damaraland Camp is located on the north face of the Huab River Valley with endless vistas across stark plains, ancient valleys and soaring peaks. It is 90kms inland from Torra Bay on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, and 100kms north of the brooding mass of the Brandberg Mountains. Early morning mist, generated by the merging of icy Atlantic water and warm air along the Skeleton Coast, drifts inland along the river valley and provides sustenance to varied life forms. The Huab River flows only once or twice during the short rainy season, making the morning mist the key to sustained wildlife in this area. The natural laws of food and water availability dictate the movement and cycles of the rare and endangered desert elephant, black rhino, oryx, kudu, springbok and other species that have come to terms with life in a desert environment. Accommodation is in large, comfortable walk-in tents that face a valley view. Each tented room has en suite facilities and a verandah. The main living area combines the dining room, lounge and pub under canvas, with an open area for campfires. In a secluded corner of the camp, there is a rocky alcove where a refreshing swimming pool feeds from a natural spring. Highlights of your stay at Damaraland Camp are nature excursions into the rocky desert in search of the desert elephant and rhino.

Day 5 - Day 7
Sefofane charter flight Damaraland - Ongava, Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park is an extraordinary wildlife area in amongst long stretches of savanna and bushveld. Scattered with waterholes, saltpans and woodland, the area attracts a large variety of game. The 30,000 hectare area of Ongava is ultimately an extension of the Etosha National Park, as it lies directly on the southern boundary of the park. Ongava Tented Camp is situated on the foothills of the Ondundozonanandana Range with wonderful views across the plains below. Ongava Tented Camp is situated on the plains along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the 30 000-hectare, privately owned Ongava Game Reserve. The small tented camp comprises eight large comfortable walk-in tents each with en suite bathroom facilities, including flush toilet and hot showers. All meals are enjoyed in the thatched dining area right next to an active waterhole. The camp also has a small pool. Activities include game drives into the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Gemsbok, Springbok, and Hartebeest can be seen at many of the waterholes in the Park. In addition, night drives, hides and walks are offered on the private reserve. Ongava has resident White Rhino and Black Rhino, allowing guests staying at Ongava the unique opportunity to see both of these charismatic species.
