Join Serengeti Pride Safaris for an amazing camping safari adventure through Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit, Lake Manyara National Park, the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater.  This itinerary is designed for adventurous travelers on a budget, who don’t mind simple camping.  You camp in public campgrounds with shared public toilet facilities (usually flush toilets, occasionally outhouse type) and public showers (where available; may be cold).  If you are not used to this type of camping, we urge you to consider our lodge-based safari trips.  There can be animals coming through these camps, so while it is generally very safe, caution must be used – especially for those night-time toilet visits! – and children must be supervised at all times.  Meals are served outdoors.  Tents are rainproof dome-type tents using sleeping pads (no beds).  Bring your own sleeping bag or rent them from us.  Tents are provided.  Your chef and guide will prepare your meals and clean up, allowing you to relax in camp. Your group will travel in a safari vehicle with a driver and a chef/camp assistant.  Your chef and all gear will travel with you in the vehicle.  Camping gear and luggage will be strapped on top of the vehicle while you are en route to the next camp during each transition.

I thought that the safari was excellent. Not only were the places that we visited incredible, but the crew was so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants to take a safari with a reliable and knowledgable company, and I will continue to use Serengeti Pride Safaris if I ever am over that way in the future!

I am very happy I chose Serengeti Pride Safaris and feel that we got a personalized service few other outfitters would provide.  (Regarding lodges) loved each one and loved that they were all different with their own character. Exceeded my expectations.  (Regarding Kilimanjaro) great crew, roomy tents, and best of all our own toilet tent!  Visiting the school and Cradle of Love (orphanage) was one of the highlights of the trip!

If anyone I know wants to go on this trip (Kilimanjaro climb and safari), I will tell them not to go with anyone but you guys.  When we describe our experience... we tell people that we would not have changed anything.  The itinerary that you put together was perfect... all of our accomodations were great... you guys are the best!!

Itinerary

August 1, 2011 – Transfer to Serengeti  Morning pickup from wherever you are staying in Arusha or Moshi area.  You will drive about 2-3 hours to Lake Manyara National Park at the edge of the great Rift Valley.  Enjoy your first game drive in this small but very scenic and interesting park with forests, lake, and plains - and a variety of wildlife.  Overnight at Twiga campsite in Mto wa Mbu village just outside Lake Manyara National Park.  All meals included starting with lunch today.

Safari Day 2 – Serengeti Drive to the Serengeti and your campsite, game drive along the way.  It is quite scenic as you ascend into the Ngorongoro Highlands which has colorful Maasai villages as well as wildlife.  Then, descend onto the Serengeti Plains where you will see animals en route to the campground.  Stop at the Olduvai Gorge Museum to learn a bit about our early human ancestors and fossils found in this area.  Overnight at a public campsite in the Serengeti National park.

Safari Day 3 – Serengeti  You will spend today exploring the Serengeti ecosystem which flows from Serengeti National park across the invisible line into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.  Although migration patterns vary every year, the great migration is usually in easy driving distance of your lodge.  Overnight at the same campsite.

Safari Day 4 –  Ngorongoro Crater  Early departure for Ngorongoro Crater to enjoy a game drive inside the Crater today.  The Crater is home to a large number of animals – predators and prey, migratory and resident animals including the elusive rhino.  It is also quite beautiful and memorable.  Overnight at Twiga campsite in Mto wa Mbu village again.

Safari Day 5 – Final day and return to the airport or Arusha

Morning village walk with possibility of shopping stops in the colorful village of Mto wa Mbu for inexpensive souvenirs and an interesting experience.  For any art or carvings where quality is important, we suggest you purchase in the more upscale gift shops your driver can take you to that have more quality control in place than the informal market in Mto wa Mbu.  We can have you back to Kilimanjaro airport for evening flights.  If you are staying over, we will drop you at your lodge or hotel in Arusha or Moshi (lodging tonight not included).  Last meal included is lunch today.
