Mont Sainte-Anne’s gently winding trails. The Gulf of St. Lawrence shimmers in the sun; Percé Rock rises from the water, a massive ship carved of stone. Fifty thousand Northern Gannets dive for their dinner on Île Bonaventure. The unexpected: woodland caribou, rare flora and fauna transplanted from the tundra of the far north to the mountains of the Gaspésie.  Wooded paths along the rivers reveal rare plant life found nowhere else.  Placid lakes and deep valleys adorn Mont Albert, where moose make their homes.  The two fold gift of a challenging trail: tremendous pride and magnificent scenery. A hillside route up Mont Jacques-Cartier; pebble beaches on tranquil coves. Serene forest splendour opens onto a breathtaking water view; the Gulf flows into Gaspé Bay.
Body and soul revitalized.

Itinerary

Day 1
Your guides will meet and greet you in the town of Gaspe at 9:00 am.We then whisk you away to the town of Percé and its surrounding mountainside to warm up for our week along the gentle trails of Mont Sainte-Anne and the spectacular views of this coastline, jutting out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence.  We’ll enjoy dinner and our overnight stay with a spectacular view of the majestic Percé Rock.
(Hike up to 8 km or 5 miles, drive up to 1 hour)
 Day 2
This morning we will travel inland to Parc de la Gaspésie, covering the most spectacular portion of the Québec Appalachians.  More than 25 peaks topping 1,000 meters push skyward in the Chic-Chocs and McGerrigle Mountains.  It is here that the woodland caribou live along with other rare flora and fauna normally found in the tundra of the far north. We have a choice of exploring some wonderful moderate wooded trails that meander beside the rivers, both offering the chance to see various rare plant life - some of which are exclusive to the park.  Some of the hikes here can be challenging and include some rock scrambling - options will be discussed.  We’ll relax and dine this evening at the grand Hotel Gîte du Mont-Albert (Ph: 418-763-2288).
(Hike up to 7 km or 4 miles, drive up to 4 hours)

Day 3
Today we’ll hike Mont Jacques-Cartier, soaring 4000 feet above sea level and the pride of the park.  You can hike trails partway up the mountain or hike all the way to the summit.  The mountain’s surface is dotted with lake and hills, broken only by the deep-walled valleys formed by rivers flowing into the St. Lawrence River.  The inclines and rock scrambling during this hike make a walking stick or trekking poles a good idea to bring along. We’ll enjoy another overnight at the Gîte du Mont-Albert.
(Hike up to 9 km or 5 miles, drive up to 1 hour)

Day 4
Today’s hike will be to the top of Mont Albert.  This mountain, although not the highest in the park, is one of the most challenging, with its steep ascents and rough terrain.  Some may decide to enjoy the views from the plateau while others continue on to summit at 3800 feet.  This hike may take up to 9 hours but the pride feels overwhelming and the scenery spectacular.  The boreal forests in the valleys among these mountains have one of the highest moose densities in Quebec.
There is also an alternative hike to Pic du Brulé – your guide will discuss the options.
We’ll enjoy the same resort hotel.
(Hike up to 14 km or 8 miles, drive up to 1 hour)

Day 5
Leaving the Parc de la Gaspésie, we’ll follow a scenic coastal route to visit Forillon National Park. After lunch, we will hike a breathtaking trail in the park where you will go from the intimate warmth of the forest to the magnificent view of water where the Gulf of St. Lawrence sinks into Gaspé Bay.  In the distance, when the weather is clear, you can see Anticosti Island. We arrive back in the town of Gaspé at approximately 5:00 pm.
(Hike up to 8 km or 5 miles, drive up to 4 hours)
