Bhutan’s rivers contain a multitude of classic grade 2-3 whitewater, the ideal size for beginners and intermediate paddlers. Using our river lodge as a base camp the daily itinerary remains flexible to suit your needs. The course curriculum includes: basic river running skills, swift water rescue, river reading, the Eskimo roll, play-boating, efficient stroke techniques and safety awareness.  No previous experience is required, however we ask that you arrive with a reasonable level of fitness and are very comfortable in the water.

The thrill of the physical challenge is complimented with an unparalleled cultural experience off the water. During your stay at the Lodge you will have ample time to explore the various monasteries, temples and points of interest.  Should your partner, spouse, or family member wish to accompany you, we can arrange an equally exciting itinerary for them whilst you are kayaking

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Paro Bhutan from the gateway city of Bangkok.  From the flight in, weaving through the Paro valley, arrival in Bhutan is like no other! Your guide will meet you at the airport and a short transfer brings us to Uma Paro for lunch.  In the afternoon, we will hike to the Takstang Monastery, perched on a sheer cliff face, and better known as the Tiger’s Nest.

Day 2:  A two hour drive will take us to the top of the Dochu La Pass  (10,000 ft). Here we strap on helmets and meander down the mountain road on mountain bikes en route to the Punakha River Lodge. Our afternoon is spent fitting kayaks and then it’s on the water for a late afternoon, early evening session.

Day 3-6: Kayak instruction on the Mo, Po and Puna Tsang Chhu Rivers. Evenings are spent exploring the many sights of the Punakha Valley.

Day 7: After breakfast we drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.  The afternoon is spent exploring and shopping. Other options vary from 9 holes of golf on the Kings course, to visiting Bhutan's famous textile industry.

Day 8: Early morning transfer to airport for international departure back to Bangkok.
