Day 2 – Dec 28th
In the morning, pick up from hotel at 10:00 a.m. to visit the Shedrick Home for baby elephants.
Visiting this orphanage is a delight and is something that no one staying in Kenya should miss.
You will be introduced to the elephants and briefed on their history as you watch them roll in
mud. You will also have the opportunity to watch them feed on bottled milk. In addition to the
elephants, you are likely to see baboons at close quarters. After an hour with the elephants, you
will take a 10 minute drive to the Giraffe Centre. The giraffe center is a wonderful and refreshing
experience.

The tour gives an up close and personal interaction where you have the opportunity to feed the

of the Center’s dry upland forest. This habitat is one of the remaining segmented natural forests
outside Nairobi city. Drive back to the hotel. A stop at the Maasai market may be an option; it is
open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Here you can get a wide variety of curios and artifacts. Depart
the hotel at 6:30 p.m. for a welcome dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant.

A unique experience, it is an open-air meat specialty restaurant with a wide array of meat
selections. Options include wild game, roasted on traditional Maasai swords (skewers) over a
huge, visually spectacular charcoal pit. This exciting dining entertainment dominates the foyer of
the restaurant.
A wide selection of salads, vegetable side dishes, and a variety of exotic sauces accompany the
meat feast. Vegetarians need not worry; the vegetarian food is both available and yummy! (B/D)

the Great Rift Valley towards the west of Kenya and the City of Eldoret, where most of our

Day 4 – Dec 30th
Today you will begin service work in Eldoret at the Rescue Center where the manager will brief

children and rescued children. With a population of 160, The Rescue Center comprises of
separate boys and girls facilities. It functions as a rehabilitation center for children who need to
be advised and mentored for a safe and productive return into society. The Rescue Center has
seen an increase in street children since the end of the post-election violence that ripped across

Kenya. When police pick up abandoned children on the street, they are taken to the Rescue
Center while the police try to track their parents. The Center operates as a temporary place for

Center until they are 18 – at which age they are allowed to make their own decision. (B/L)
