Enjoy a cycle tour through Cuba and visit the famous places!

Cycle through the beautiful landscapes of Cuba’s Guaniguanico and El Rosario regions. Bicycling is the ideal activity to interact with local people and experience the Cuban culture up close. Professional local bicycle guides will both ensure an enjoyable bike trip but also inside knowledge about their country’s history, e.g. when walking through the "Habana Vieja (Old Havana)". Highlights of this bicycle adventure are the visit to the famous tobacco region Pinar del Río where you get to experience Cuba’s cigars and rum; as well as bicycling through Viñales Valley where the legendary tobacco grows. Also, take a swim and relax on the picturesque beach of Cayo Jutias and follow the path of your cycle journey to La Palma on the traces of Cuban history. Moreover, visit Ancón Valley where Fidel held his secret meetings during “la Revolucción” and Cueva de los Portales, the hide-out of Che Guevarra during the standoff with President Kennedy. Walk through Soroa's beautiful orchid garden and enjoy "Las Terrazas" before returning to explore lively Havana: a multi-faceted adventure that cannot be missed!

Itinerary

Day 1 Cancun
  • Arrival at Cancun International Airport and transfer to the Marriot
    Courtyard Hotel.

Day 2 Havana
  • Transfer to Cancun Airport and flight to Jose Marti Havana International
Airport. We recommend going for a walk along the Malécon in the
evening which is located directly at the Malécon, the waterfront of Havana.

Day 3 Cycle Pinar del Rio
  • Breakfast and transfer to Pinar del Rio, the famous tobacco region in
western Cuba. Pinar del Río is quiet and cosy compared to Havana,
where nothing sits still. We will visit a tobacco factory and go on a
tour through the town. We will also visit a rum distillery where
“guayabita” is produced. A site which is a must-see! City tour
and transfer to Aguas Claras. After lunch we will be preparing the
bikes for today's bike tour. Little cycling, depending of the clients
between 03-06 miles. Accommodation and dinner at the Aguas Claras Hotel.
Day 4 Cayo Jutias
  • Breakfast and cycling for around 45 miles to Cayo Jutias, a small island
located in the north coast of Pinar del Rio connected by a small road to
the picturesque beach of Cayo Jutías which is situated on a little
island connected to the mainland by a man-made causeway. Once there,
we can have lunch at the beach, hire a boat or have a swim in the
beautiful sea and then after that, either take the bus or cycle
back to Viñales to the Hotel Rancho San Vicente, where we’ll be
having dinner and spend the night.
Day 5 Jagua Vieja Road
  • Breakfast. On today’s ride we will take the Jagua Vieja Road to
    La Palma
at Ancón Valley- a 19 miles tour of quaint landscapes
and untouched valleys. En route there is the possibility of visiting
the country lodge where Fidel Castro held secret meetings
during the Cuban Revolution. We will have a picnic lunch
in the lush valley and then be taken to our next destination: Aguas
Claras Hotel, nestling in idyllic surroundings which are perfect for
a short hike or walk. This is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 6 Soroa
  • Bicycle to Soroa around 65 miles or we will be taken to Cueva de
    los Portales
. This beautiful area was the hide out that Che
    Guevera
used during the '62 standoff with Kennedy and this will be
the site for our picnic, after which we will visit the caves. After this,
we will start the day’s bike ride to Soroa around 32 miles over
the Carretera Central. In Soroa, we recommend paying the famous
orchid gardens a visit. Dinner time will see us at Soroa Hotel, where
we will also spend the night.

Day 7 Las Terrazas
  • This morning, after breakfast, we leave for Las Terrazas. Today’s trip
is only 12 miles long. The community we will visit can be found in Sierra
    del Rosario
, a UNESCO protected rural area of sustainable
    development
. The river San Juan and its little waterfall flow through
the thick forest, where one can see little lakes, ruins and coffee
    plantations
from the 19th century and sulphurous sources. The most
well known is Las Terrazas. The name comes from overgrown terraced
fields which are typical of this region. The 900 inhabitants of this
community live from the timber industry and eco tourism. En route we
will have a little picnic lunch. We will dine at a farmhouse. Accommodation
    in Hotel el Moka.
Day 8 Rum Museum
  • Breakfast and ransfer to Havana. City tour with a visit to the Rum
Museum. Our guide will take us for a city sightseeing tour on which
you can get your last few impressions of the old city of Havana and
the Spanish-Andalusian architecture, framed by the tropical sun
and lush vegetation which is typical for Habana Vieja. Lunch at a
local restaurant. We will spend the night in Havana. Accommodation
    and dinner in hotel Plaza.

  • Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your return flight to
Cancun, Mexico. Once arrived in Mexico transfer to Marriot Courtyard Hotel.
