Join me in the oceanside town of Manzanillo to make a tremendous difference in the lives of countless animals and the community. Our first Humanitourismâ„¢ adventure in Mexico will be in partnership with an incredible organization for animals called PATA ("Paws" in Spanish). This organization reached out to us for help so we have put together this amazing assistance adventure. PATA stands for Personas Ayudando a Todos los Animales, "people helping all animals." We will assist PATA in a large scale spay/neuter clinic. Following our work on this amazing project, we will explore fun and adventure on land and sea in this seaside town. Enjoy snorkeling, surf lessons, trekking and sea kayaking all included in the cost of your trip!
Volunteers will work in hands-on animal care in a mass spay/neuter clinic, but no special skills are necessary. There may also be openings for vets interested in participating in the clinic.
Volunteers assist in the health and welfare of the spay/neuter patients and their owners before and after surgery. Some of the work may include:
Pack and haul clinic equipment
Unload and set up clinic equipment and supplies
Assemble cages
Trap ferals using humane traps
Receive patients and fill out clinic paperwork
Track patient progress through the clinic, from reception to surgery, recovery and discharge
Monitor patient vital signs after surgery
Instruct owners on post-surgery care.
Relax at the end of each day in your seaside posada resort under the thatched-roof palapa by the pool, enjoy a cool drink from the full-service bar, or stroll on the pristine and unspoiled beach that stretches for miles. Each room is unique and offers a view of Manzanillo Bay, the harbor, and the Pacific Ocean. Rooms are simple, but authentic and charming, featuring Dutch doors, hand-made furnishings, antique chests and colorful Mexican rugs and blankets. The grounds are highlighted by brick archways and a stone courtyard surrounded by lush, tropical foliage, multi-colored bougainvillea and swaying coconut palms.
You may also have the opportunity to adopt a dog from Manzanillo or to transport rescue dogs to homes in your country of residence.
A portion of proceeds from the trip will also be earmarked for the projects. We also welcome donations below. We've been able to donate veterinary supplies with past donations and continue to work toward providing additional veterinary supplies and other desperately needed items.
