Day 2-3 - LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK
Liwonde National Park is arguably Malawi's best for wildlife. It is located along the Shire River and as a result is rather long a thin. Thousands of hippos and crocodiles lie on the rivers banks. You can also see plenty of elephant, impala water buck, baboons and zebra who all come down to the river's edge to drink. Less common are sable, kudu and bushbuck - but the birdlife, being on a river, is also plentiful. The big cats are rare to be seen, but it is possible. Leopards can occasionally be spotted by the keen observer. The mixture of the river, mopane and grassland habitats provides for a variety of birdlife, and recently two rare black rhinos were reintroduced to the area. ($5 Gov't Tax/Person/Day)

Day 4 - LILONGWE
After breakfast and game activities, you will drive to Lilongwe where you will overnight at Heuglin's Lodge for bed and breakfast. The capital city of Malawi is quite diverse with both a New and Old City. The 'New City' houses the more upscale hotels, embassies and offices. The 'Old City' holds the markets, cafes and many other interesting locales. A day in this city can be quite interesting with a visit to the market on Malangalanga Rd, and a look into some of the old Indian spice and cloth shops. You can also visit the tobacco auction floors. Tobacco is Malawi's most important cash crop, so this gives an interesting insight into the country's trade. At night there are a number of good restaurants and nightclubs.
Heuglin's Lodge is situated in the quiet garden suburbs of Lilongwe's residential area. The guesthouse offers 6 spacious and tastefully furnished bedrooms, lounge, a small library and dining room.
