DAY 1     Banff, AB
Arrive at Irwin's Mountain Inn in Banff, Alberta. Enjoy dinner and attend an evening orientation session to discuss the activities of the week to come followed by an optional walk to explore Banff.

DAY 2     Banff, AB
A morning walk around the Banff townsite will introduce you to historic sites, homes, churches, and more. Your walk includes visits to the Luxton home, St. George-On-The-Pines Anglican Church, and The Whyte Museum. Also visit the heritage homes of Catherine Whyte (founders of the Whyte Museum and renowned visual artists) and the 1907 home of Philip and Pearl Moore, avid collectors of the era. Then enjoy an excursion to the majestic Banff Springs Hotel to explore its Scottish heritage and myths and legends of Banff's most famous landmark followed by a traditional High Tea in the magnificent Rundle Lounge. Dinner is on your own with independent time to explore Banff.

DAY 3     Banff, AB
Depart Banff for Lake Louise. Visit the Chateau Lake Louise, also known as the "Diamond in the Wilderness," for an informative heritage visit of the famous mountain castle overlooking the pristine Lake Louise. There will be some light hikes around the trails of Lake Louise with trail discussions on subalpine plants and wildlife. Return to Banff via the Bow Valley Parkway, with a stop at spectacular Johnston Canyon. During your free time, explore the town of Banff or pursue an optional visit to the Sulphur Mountain Hotsprings.

DAY 4     Banff, AB
Learn about the birthplace of Banff National Park, with a discussion and presentation about the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, recounting the amazing discovery of the thermal hotsprings and the establishment of the world's first National Park. The morning will conclude with an interpretive visit to the Banff Wildlife Museum, another National Historic Site. The architectural style and detailing of the 1903 log building are characteristic examples of early federal buildings in the Park. At the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum, examine the 5000 year history of the Stoney and Blackfoot Indian cultures. Enjoy vibrant discussions of western settlement, European influences, and the roots of the Northwest Mounted Police (now RCMP). Discover thousand-year old native artifacts and original handmade crafts with a native interpreter.
