Mera Peak is the highest permitted trekking peak of Nepal. It stands to the south of Everest and dominates the watershed between the heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas. The peak first climbed was on May 1953 and the same route till date is the standard one. There are many other routes to the peak, but none of them are easy. Some of them require crossing very high and difficult mountain passes. This climb is a true mountaineering experience to behold. The others mountain views accessible from the TOP of MEARA are Kangchenjunga, (8586m) Makalu (8463m) and Baruntse (7220m) in the east and the Mt Cho-Oyu (8201m), Ama Dablam (6812m) and Kangtega to the west.

My friend Susie and I (Australians) have been guided on 2 treks with Bijaya Raj Devkota (BJ) of Botanical Treks Excursion in Nepal. The first in March 2002 to the Langtang Region in Eastern Nepal and the second in October 2008 on the Annapurna Circuit in Western Nepal. We had the most wonderful time on both treks and I would recommend BJ as a man who is honest, kind, reliable, generous, very experienced in guiding, with a lovely sense of humour. We certainly hope to go on another trek with him in the future.

In the last 12 years I made 4 treks with Bijay with my own groups, family and friends from Holland. Every time it was well organised in terms of schedule, locations and especially acclimatization. Nobody get anyway sick. Bijay and his staff are very reliable and always prepared to assist you. The treks we made with Bijay were every time a unforgettable experience.
