I wanted to send a quite note to all the Compass Team to say thanks. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and sincerely appreciate the efforts of Leo, Tarvo and Andy. These guys really went the extra step in ensuring that everything went smoothly on the trip. Thanks also to all those who assisted in organising the tour, it really was as good as I hoped it would be.
I hope to able to do another tour with Compass in the future but will need some time for funds and annual leave to recuperate!

    Thanks again

What an amazing tour. Given that neither of us have done more than farm track and car park gravel before, to say it was hard work was an understatement, but with leo's guidance, a real learning experience. Leo, was awesome. Lots of knowledge, very friendly, always smiling, great sense of humour, first class person. Tavo could not do enough to please everyone, what a great guy. Andy, tried so hard to please, very friendly guy a real asset to the team. As for the Compass organisation - wow. Nothing was not thought of, every little detail was covered. The support & backup were first class & I doubt could not be bettered. As for the locations & scenery! Patagonia was always somewhere as a young rock climber I always wanted to come to but never got the chance, now I have seen the best of it with Compass, it has gone way beyond my expectations, a wonderful & enchanting place.

This trip has inspired us to do more. We will be riding with you again for sure, now we have coped with some tough terrain.

Thankyou again for one, if not THE best experience of a life time

Itinerary

Week One
Our English speaking guide, a motorcycle enthusiast and a 100% Transylvanian shall collect you from Cluj Napoca Airport and transfer you to your accommodation in the wonderfully named Turda. The riding begins with a short ride to Bistrita. Enjoy your lunch in Golden Crown Hotel, the same place where Jonathan Harker, the hero of Bram Stoker’s Novel Dracula used to dine. No visit to Transylvania is complete without a visit to Dracula’s Castle at Borgo Pass. We continue on to the state of Bucovina were we visit the incredible Sucevita Monastery. We cross Hells Throat and reach Bicazului Gorges – one of the most spectacular places in Romania that offers a spectacular ride on winding roads right through the canyon. Next stop is the incredible medieval citadel of Sighisoara. Sighisoara still stands as one of Europe’s most beautiful and still inhabited fortified cities with UNESCO European heritage site status. Sighisoara is also the place where Vlad the Impaler, known as Dracula, was born. We ride today to Bran Castle. The castle owes its fame both to its unique charm and to the myth Bram Stoker created around Dracula. We see the first week out in Brasov, a city with an outstanding medieval atmosphere which has played a vital role in Romania’s history, both old and new.

Week Two
We continue our journey to the fortified town of Sibiu. Sibiu has been the centre of Romania's German minority since medieval times and it is one of Romania’s most beautiful cities. On the way, stop to Fagaras Citadle, one of the best preserved medieval fortress in Romania. An incredible ride today – Transfagarasan Highway – the most crooked and challenging of Europe's roads for motorcyclists. Built between 1970 and 1974 as a military route, by communist dictator Ceausescu (after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968) it snakes up into the Carpathians. If this incredible road, declared Europe’s “greatest road” by the team at “Top Gear” isn’t enough we continue onto the Transalpina the highest road in Romania. Called The King's Road by the locals, the road was built under the rule of King Carol II of Romania and rebuilt during World War II by German troops. Still in the mountains we shall ride to the Sunset Mountains this ride will reward you with traditional villages, winding roads, and breathtaking scenery. Contuing to Sighisoara we visit the Glacier Cave, the biggest cave of this kind in Romania, with a mass of ice of 75.000 mc. The week is finished off with a visit to the biggest salt mine in Romania, the Salt Mines of Turda,
