MONDAY, JULY 23
Depart USA for Milan.
TUESDAY, JULY 24 (Milan )
After our arrival in Milan, transfer to our charming
hotel in nearby Monza by motor coach. Enjoy a welcome
dinner at hotel or neighboring restaurant. (D)
WEDNESDAY, JULY 25 (milan )
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at our hotel. Travel to Milan —
the world’s fashion capital — by motor coach to take in
the stunning Duomo di Milano, the second largest Gothic
cathedral in the world. Then, contemplate DaVinci’s
painting “The Last Supper” at Santa Maria delle Grazie.
After our guided tour, enjoy free time to explore Italy’s
commercial and financial center. (B)
THURSDAY, JULY 26 (milan /reggio emilia)
Following breakfast spend a few hours in Milan’s city
center on your own — relaxing at a café, shopping or
people-watching. Keep a camera handy to capture all the
dazzling displays, from shop windows to market shelves.
Later, travel to Emilia-Romagna—a region renowned
throughout the world as Italy’s gastronomic paradise.
Later, relax at our charming hotel—a medieval building
situated in the heart of the historic center of Reggio
Emilia that overlooks the town square. (B,L)
FRIDAY, JULY 27 (reggio emilia)
After breakfast in the hotel, visit local producers of the
region’s celebrated parmigiano cheese and balsamic
vinegar. Spend the afternoon exploring Reggio Emilia
on your own. (B)
SATURDAY, JULY 28 (reggio emilia)
Following breakfast, travel to Modena, known for its
balsamic vinegar production and quality restaurants.
Learn the secrets of regional cooking in an optional
cooking class followed by lunch. (B, L)
SUNDAY, JULY 29 (lake garda )
Following breakfast, sit back and enjoy the picturesque
landscape as we north to Italy’s lake district. On the way,
stop in Mantova—Madison, Wisconsin’s sister city—for
a guided tour of this delightful town known for it’s rich
cuisine and local charm. Later, travel to Lake Garda and
get settled in our hotel. Enjoy a dinner overlooking Lake
Garda’s scenic beauty. (B, D)
MONDAY, JULY 30 (Lake garda )
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at our beautiful hotel, then set
out for a tour of Lake Garda and its opulent villas by boat
or visit a nearby village. Evening on your own. (B)
TUESDAY, JULY 31 (lake garda )
Spend the day exploring on your own. Consider a visit
taking the funicular up to mount for a hike and picnic or
a visit to a neighboring village. Evening on your own to
explore the quaint village of Malcesine. (B)
Wednesday , August 1 (lake como )
After breakfast, travel to stunning Lake Como nestled
between mountains and hills. On the way, stop in
medieval Bergamo for lunch. Spend the evening taking in
the wonders of Italy’s most famous lake. (B)
THURSDAY, AUGUST 2 (lake como )
The day is yours to explore Lake Como’s resort villages.
Tour Lake Como by public boat and visit some of the
area’s most impressive villas and gardens. (B)
FRIDAY, AUGUST 3 (lake como )
Spend our last full day exploring on your own —
shopping in Como, boating, or relaxing at the hotel.
Later, we’ll celebrate our Italian experience together with
a farewell dinner at a charming local restaurant. (B,D)
SATURDAY, AUGUST 4
Say a reluctant “Ciao” to Italy. Enjoy a final leisurely
breakfast before our transfer to the airport for a return
flight to the U.S.
