Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Kathmandu
Welcome to Kathmandu a city of legend and mystique! Brimming with ancient temples, bustling markets and organized chaos, the capital of Nepal will leave you inspired and enthralled.

You’ll have the afternoon free to visit Durbar Square in the heart of Kathmandu, ride through the streets in a cycle rickshaw, bargain for saris and scarves and explore our favourite city! In the evening we will have dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 – Pokhara
We drive west to Pokhara. The journey is breathtaking as we follow the gorge of the Trisuli River, passing by lush valleys, terraced rice fields and dramatic landscapes. Eventually we reach Pokhara, a quiet town nestled between the peaceful waters of Phewa Tal (Phewa Lake) and the spectacular Himalayan Annapurna Massif!

The rest of the day is free to explore this laidback town. Hire a boat and relax on Phewa Tal, wander the streets of Old Pokhara or visit the Gurkha museum and discover the achievements of this world-renowned regiment.

Day 3-5 – Mountain Biking Around the Secret Lakes and Trails of the Pokhara Valley
Venture away from the city, riding off-road down rarely used jeep tracks and trails, biking through the quiet villages and green rice fields of the Pokhara Valley. We then cycle to the secluded and stunning Begnas Tal where you can take a refreshing and well-deserved swim in the lake. Ride along high ridges overlooking Rupa Tal and descend along country roads to the Seti River. Continue beyond the river to the mighty Hell’s Falls and ascend through the hillside to the World Peace Pagoda and enjoy impressive views of Phewa Tal and the Annapurna’s. An easy downhill ride through lush natural jungle brings us back to the lakeside at Pokhara.

We will stay overnight in small family run guesthouses, experiencing traditional Nepalese hospitality along the way.

Day 6 – Paraglide to the Top of the World or Motorcycle Through the Backroads of Nepal*
The day is yours, free to discover, experience and explore. Wake up early and watch the sublime sunrise over Sarangkot, providing exceptional views of the sacred and unclimbed Macchupacchare (Fish Tail Mountain). Visit one of the Tibetan Refugee Camps, hike to the bat caves on the outskirts of town or treat yourself to a cuppa chai or indulge in culinary heaven at one of the many delicious lakeside restaurants.

Or for a magical and unforgettable experience…   Fly like an eagle and soar to the top of the world as you paraglide high above Pokhara. With the majestic Annapurna’s as your backdrop, this is one of the best places to paraglide in the world!

And for the Inner Road Warrior… Rent a motorbike and feel the freedom of the open road. Travel beyond the beaten path to rarely visited villages and wind your way through the heart of the Himalayan foothills. The riding here is exceptional and a motorcyclists dream! Novices and inexperienced riders can still enjoy the thrill of riding in the Himalayas by taking one of the courses offered in Pokhara.

*Paragliding and motorcycling are not included in tour price and must be paid for on location. It is not possible to paraglide and go on a motorcycle course in the same day. If you are an experienced motorcyclist with a valid license you will be able to rent a motorcycle without taking a beginner/intermediate riding course.

Day 7-8 – Bandipur to Kathmandu
Nestled along a high ridgeline, rising above lush terraced fields and the Marsyangdi River Valley is the village of Bandipur. Rustic medieval buildings from the 18th century line the quiet, traffic free streets, as locals go about their daily lives. Steeped in Newari culture, Bandipur offers unrivalled panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manasalu and the Ganesh Himal mountain ranges.

There is plenty of opportunity to take short hikes around this scenic village. Walk to Thani Mal Temple or to Siddha Gufa, reputably Nepal’s largest cave! Alternatively spend the day discovering the hidden gems and temples of Bandipur and meeting the welcoming locals.

We spend the night in Bandipur and make our way to Kathmandu the next afternoon.

Day 9-11 – Raft the Raging Sun Kosi
Starting from Shisha Pangma, the world’s 14th highest peak, the river winds and weaves, slicing it way through the Himalayas into Nepal. We run the ‘river of gold’ through adrenaline pumping grade 3+ rapids, navigating through the rush of white water. This certainly lives up to its reputation as one of the top ten rafting rivers in the world!

The next day is spent on some of the warmest white water in Nepal, surrounded by spectacular scenery, learning new skills or honing your kayaking technique in a full day kayak clinic – perfect for novices or experienced paddlers alike!

Our final day here is a rest day and you are free to do whatever you like. For the adventurous there is an opportunity to raft the Bhote Kosi. Filled from beginning to end with steep and deep grade 4 rapids this is without a doubt Nepal’s wildest river! Or, for those wanting to relax you can sunbathe at our private beach, take a dip in our pool or go for a nature walk in the surrounding area.

Accommodation is at our secluded riverside camp, surrounded by lush jungle and a white sand beach. It is the perfect place to unwind after a hard days rafting.

Day 12-13 – Journey to the Edge*
Imagine bungy jumping off of a suspension bridge 160m towards the wild rapids of the Bhote Kosi or experiencing a 7-second free fall on the world’s highest canyon swing and abseiling, jumping and sliding down steep canyon walls and waterfalls! For the adventurous soul, this place will not disappoint!

For the next two days, we will stay in luxury safari tents, surrounded by pristine forest and dense jungle, situated on top of a dramatic gorge, 12km from the Tibetan border. The bar is well stocked and the food is a delightful selection of Western and Nepalese fare. Read a book in a hammock, swim in secret waterfalls or indulge in the plunge pool and sauna – you deserve it!

*Accommodation and food is included in tour price, however any additional activities participated in (canyoning, bungy jumping, etc) is not included and must be paid on location.

Day 14 – Fly Amongst Giants* and Experience the Ancient City of Patan
In the still and calm of early morning, as the sun rises over Nepal, ascend towards the Himalaya in an incredible mountain flight. Fly east towards the world’s highest peak, the majestic Mt. Everest (8848m). On the way behold the astonishing views of the Himalayas including Shisha Pangma (8013m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Nuptse (7864m) and Lhotse (8,516m). Quite simply – spectacular!

And in the afternoon…

Immerse yourself in a place stood still in time and experience the fascinating array of temples, stupas and pagodas in the ancient royal city of Patan. A city best explored by foot, we’ll walk the cobbled streets, and see firsthand why the city is still known by its original name, ‘Lalitpur – the City of Beauty’.

*Mountain flight is not included in tour price and must be paid for on location.

Day 15 – The Ancient Temples of Kathmandu

Discover why the Kathmandu Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as we explore three culturally diverse temples within the city. High on a hilltop above Kathmandu is the magnificent Swayambutinath (“Monkey Temple”), used by both Hindus and Buddhists, and known for its many holy monkeys! Along the banks of the Bagmati River lies Pashupatinath, a temple devoted to Lord Shiva. It is the most important Hindu site in Nepal and pilgrims from all over the world come to show their faith. Away from the city centre is the peaceful and impressive Bodhnath Stupa. Every day thousands of people descend daily to show their devotion and respect.

We’ll have a group farewell dinner at a local restaurant in the evening.

Day 16 – Depart Kathmandu
Unfortunately it’s the end of this adventure. Lost Earth Adventures group services end after breakfast. See you next time!
