Itinerary
Day 1: November 25: Arrive Addis Ababa
Welcome to Ethiopia! Upon arrival at Addis Ababa, Bole International Aiport (ADD) you will be assisted and welcomed by Grand Holidays Ethiopia’s staff for the transfer to Hotel.
Founded in 1886 by Menelik II, Addis Ababa is situated at 2,500 meters (8000 ft) above sea levelwich makes it the third highest capital city in the world next to Lapaz in Quinto. This hospitable and one of the safest cities in the world, enjoys an excellent climate all year round, with an average temperature of 25C (77F).
With multi-ethnic population of over 5 million, Addis Ababa is a pleasant city with wide avenues of jacarandas, interesting museums, and one of the largest open-air markets in Africa, known as the "Mercato".
We can discuss with participants about late afternoon acclimatization walk/run to Entoto Hill at about 3000 mt.

Day 2: November 26: Addis Ababa-Blue Nile River Gorge-Debre Libanos-Acclimatization
Blue Nile Gorge, often called Ethiopia’s own Grand Canyon is found 213 K.M north of Addis Ababa. This majestic and enormous gorge, is known for its magnificent physical feature and alluring natural beauty. After visiting the gorge, you will drive back to Addis en-route visiting DebreLibanos Monastery. DebreLibanos is an important monastic center for Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. The monastery was founded by the renowned 13th century mystic, St Teklehaimanot.
Before driving back to Addis, we will stop at the Jemma River Gorge. The Jemma River is one of the tributaries of the Nile, and there is a drop of nearly 1000 metros to the valley below.
We will walk downhill to the 17th century Portuguese Bridge. Here we can expect to see lenty of birdlife including the Banded Barbet, the Black headed forest oriole, the White billed starling, the Red Billed starling, the White winged cliff chat, the White backed black tit, white cheeked Turaco and Hemprich's hornbill. We will also see one of Ethiopia's endemic mammals, the Gelada or bleeding heart baboon. Going, downhill and uphill is quite an exercise.
Leaving the Gorge we drive back to Addis Ababa to arrive Addis late in the afternoon.

Day 3: November 27: Great Run
Today is the main day. In the morning, we will drop you at the Meskel Square where the Great Ethiopian Run begins. Here you go…. The rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4: November 28: Addis Ababa-Axum
In the morning, transfer to Addis Ababa Airport for your flight to Axum. The rest of the day, tour of the ancient city of Axum.
Your today’s visit in Axum include: the Stele field, Kaleba Tombs, the 4th century Christian inscription of King Ezana, Queen of Sheba’s Palace, Archeological Museum, and Tsion Mariam Church where the original Ark of the Covenant is housed.

Day 5: November 29: Axum-Lalibela
After breakfast, transfer to Axum Airport for the flight to Lalibela. In the morning, fly to Lalibela and visit the first group of rock-hewn churches from the 1200 AD.

Day 6: November 30: Lalibela-Asheten Mariam
In the morning, mule ride, and trek to the top of Asheten Mariam Monastery. In the afternoon, visit the second group of rock-hewn churches.

Day 7: December 1: Lalibela-Gonder
After breakfast, transfer to Lalibela airport for the short flight to Gondar. In the afternoon, you will start your tour of Gondar.
Your tour include: The Royal Enclosure, the pool of King Fasilidas, and the famous Deberberhan Sillassie church.

Day 8: December 2: Gonder-Simien Mountains-Gonder
After an early breakfast, we will drive to the Simien mountains National park. The rest of the day, trek to explore the surrounding of Snakaber, part of the Simien Mountains National Park and drive back to Gonder.

Day 9: December 3: Gonder-Bahirdar
In the morning, drive to Bahirdar and an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Tana to visit the island monasteries.

Day 10: December 4: Bahirdar-Addis Ababa-Departure
After breakfast, drive 35 KM to visit the majestic Blue Nile Falls. In the afternoon, transfer to the Bahirdar airport for the flight to Addis Ababa.
In the evening, there will be Grand Holidays’ complimentary farewell dinner party. There will not be better way of ending a trip. At the end of the farewell dinner, transfer to Addis Ababa airport for the flight back . End of tour!
