Itinerary
Day 1: London Heathrow to Delhi
Take your over-night flight (flight supplementary to the tour) arriving in Delhi in the early hours. On arrival transfer to the hotel for immediate check-in.
2 nights at either the Ramada Plaza Hotel (Standard Room) or the Svelte Suites (Executive Suite). Breakfast included.
Day 2: Delhi
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi in the morning including a drive past the magnificent Red Fort from the Mughal Empire and a stop at the Jama Masjid, one of Asia's largest mosques. Take a cycle rickshaw ride through the atmospheric and chaotic streets. In New Delhi you'll see Humayun's tomb, which inspired the Taj Mahal, as well as the imposing India Gate, Parliament building and the President's residence Rashtrapati Bhawan. Also visit the Qtab Minar, the tallest stone tower in India.
Day 3: Delhi to Agra
Travel by road to Agra. This afternoon visit Agra Fort, one of the finest examples of the fusion of Mughal and Hindu architecture in the 16th century and the Tomb of Itmad Ud Daul, otherwise known as the 'Baby Taj'.
1 night at The Trident (Deluxe Garden View Room). Breakfast included.
Day 4: Agra to Jaipur
The Taj Mahal is one of the wonders of the world and is arguably at its ethereal best at sunrise when you will make your visit. After breakfast travel by road to Jaipur stopping en route to visit the well preserved, deserted former Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri.
2 nights at the Samode Haveli (Deluxe Room). Breakfast included.
Day 5: Jaipur
Enjoy a visit to the 16th century Amber Fort in the morning. The top of the elaborate fort, and its gardens, can be reached by riding on elephants (subject to availablity) while soaking in the timeless beauty of Rajasthan. In the afternoon, enjoy sightseeing in the city driving though the famous Johari Bazaar to the striking Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), City Palace and Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory.
Day 6: Jaipur to Udaipur
Fly to Udaipur, Rajasthan's most romantic city. The afternoon is at leisure.
2 nights at the Udai Kothi (Deluxe Room). Breakfast Included.
Day 7: Udaipur
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of one of Rajasthan's gems, Udaipur, where you'll discover the City Palace, the 17th century Jagdish Temple and the Garden of the Maidens; this beautiful garden, adorned with luscious pools, fountains and plants, was once the relaxing spot for royal ladies. Enjoy a boat ride in the evening on the placid waters of Lake Pichola whilst cruising past the famous Lake Palace Hotel.
Day 8: Udaipur to Mumbai
Fly to Mumbai, the commercial hub of the subcontinent. Enjoy sightseeing in the city in the afternoon; discover the Prince of Wales Museum, the Gateway of India monument and Crawford Market. End the day at the fascinating and much photographed Dhobi Talao where you can watch the dhobi wallahs or laundry men plying their trade.
1 night at the Hotel Fariyas (Standard Room). Breakfast included.
Day 9: Mumbai to London Heathrow
Fly home to London (flight supplementary to the tour).
